Hello fellow calorie watchers!
Wanted to say hello and see if I can populate my friend list! Having been on MFP for a week (1 day after my 31st birthday!) I have found my dieting 'battle' a little lonely.
I am still motivated and have been using my IPhone app religiously......but am really scared that I'll give up in a few weeks, if I don't see the desired results quickly or family and work takes over!
I want to stay focussed even though I might not see the results I want in 5 weeks time! How to achieve this, is the question??
Many thanks for your help!

I think friends are the answer to motivation - you feel you owe it to them to keep going! Feel free to add me, and good luck!

Don't get discouraged if you don't have quick results. Today is my 200th day logging in and yet I have only lost 10 lbs. I've seen others do it much quicker. Just remember that this is a COMMITMENT, not a quick fix. You WILL achieve your goal!0 -
I've tried other diet sites, but this is the longest I've stuck with it. I think you will find it to be different this time, with all the helpful tools and encouraging friends, I know you will succeed!!!:bigsmile:0

I think having a community that supports you really helps. I also found that the immediate changes I felt (more energy, better moods, not feeling crappy all day) from changing my diet and exercise really motivated me.
Happy birthday and welcome!0 -

You might be able to stay focused if you take the focus off of results - and just think about eating healthier and feeling better. If you focus on the results and the results aren't quite what you expect you may be discouraged. If you focus on just eating better and working out you can only disappoint yourself by NOT doing those things :-)0 -
Don't Quit! You are a beautiful girl and so worth the effort you are putting into this. As someone who has struggled with her weight for my whole life, I want to encourage you! Remember that nothing is worth giving up! Keep your focus on the goal!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
I'm friending you in hopes that we can motivate each other. Don't give up quite yet...we'll help lift you back up when you've fallen off the bandwagon because it does happen to all of us from time to time. The most important thing is to jump back on the wagon and keep going. Weight loss varies for everybody but the most important thing is to be consistant, log in all your food and do a little (or a lot) of sweating here and there and you'll see results.
Don't get discouraged...in the end what we all want is a healthier lifestyle. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Just remember this....you are more than a number on a scale. And also think about this...you are probably eating better and exercising more, your body thanks you for that! I have been here a week now and I've lost 2 lbs. Doesn't sound like a big deal, huh??? Well, Im eating better (staying within all of my goals for the day) and I have exercised EVERY SINGLE DAY since joining MFP. Do I want the scale to move more quickly? Of course. But come Monday, if I've only lost a pound, then so what. I feel better than i have in a long time, Im eating better, I went from only doing 10 mins on the elliptical to doing 30. Progress isn't always shown on the scale, it's an over all feeling.
Keep it up and don't give up! You can do this! And this is coming from a person who hated exercise and hated to drink water (did I mention Im up to drinking 70+ oz now). It's amazing what a place like this can do for a person. I'll send you a friend request soon.0 -
Hi,
I feel the same way sometimes. I don't have any friends yet and I was thinking that I should add friends to help stay motivated. My dad is trying to lose weight as well on this. Don't give up! We can all use some support and motivation!
Good Luck!

I've been on here since February and haven't added any friends yet, but I log in and view the message boards regularly. I started with weight watchers before doing calorie counting and it really felt like a diet. Being on MFP and just counting calories it doesn't feel like a diet anymore, just a way of life. I just log on and track everything I eat daily. Even if I don't lose anything for a week or two, I just look back and see that I have lost 34 lbs since January and I am less than 20 lbs from my goal and I don't feel like I am dieting. So even if it takes me the rest of the year to lose that last 20, it will so be worth it. So stick with it, and you won't regret it!!! And feel free to add me as a friend.0
