I keep craving things with lemon flavoring in it. I don't know any low calorie lemon treats to make. Any ideas? Like flour and butter free. I keep craving something like cheesecake, cream cheese, frosting, basically a sugar craving but I need low calorie recipes so I can enjoy my other daily foods.

Replies

  • I also crave for something like lemon cookies but don't want to use flour and want to eat it as cookie dough. Or lemon cake mix from scratch and all low calorie

I'm not where you are from but Jello makes temptations pudding cups. They have a lemon meringue that's 80 calories. They are very good.

Oh gosh, just looked to see where you're from. I'm from Mississippi also. Yes try the temptation pudding cups. I like the lemon and the key lime. They also make a chocolate.
  • I been eating the Fiber One Brownies (everyday, especially the lemon) I do have the sugar free pudding and I use almond milk and Splenda, I keep craving chocolate and frosting but I don't like the fat and high calorie. Sigh if only they made like 0 calorie sweets but r good like regular sweets.

Head to the store, or a gelateria if you have one near you and get lemon sorbet. Pretty low calorie, decent size serving.

Another option is to blend lemon juice and powdered sugar (lemon glaze), and drizzle it over fruit.

Lemonheads hard candy. Should be able to suck on one of those for a good while. One piece can't possibly be more than 10 cals.

Lemon Jello? This would be a last resort thing for me.

Can't think of too many other lemony desserts that would be pretty low cal. My go-tos are lemon poundcake, lemon bars, and lemon meringue pie. I just take a really small amount.

These are full fat full calories.

They also taste amazing and are 146 calories per bar. So.... totally doable and the real thing.

I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind, but I really like the Lemon Zest Luna bars. I like them for breakfast when I'm on-the-go. They're 180 calories and remind me of this yummy lemon cake my aunt makes.

    *chuckle*

That's at least half of the calories of my recipe. I use Rose Levy Beranbaum's if anyone cares - blows any other lemon bar recipe out of the water IMHO. It uses homemade lemon curd as the top layer and shortbread cookie as the bottom. Double the butter, and 8 egg yolks. To me, the recipe you posted is the low-fat version.

I haven't tried these but just stumbled upon them the other day.
Only 35 calories each - no butter used.

Baked or microwaved Lemon quest bar. Actually the lemon One Bar from Ohyeah nutrition is WAY better! Literally tastes like a lemon shortcake. Or the lemon poppyseed Lenny and larrys cookie either plain or microwaved!(:

I've created my own lemon chia and flaxseed muffins before. They are quite delicious and my friends and family always want me to make them for events!
