I love salt!!

No, really people... I LOVE salt! I salt everything and not just a little. When I ate french fries I salted the fries and the ketchup. Same with chips and salsa. Eggs need LOTS of salt and so do potatoes. I know how bad this is and I've cut out french fries, chips and potatoes, but what can I do about the rest of my food? All my meals are lower calorie and lower fat but I can't seem to get rid of the salt. Any suggestions?

Cut back on it slowly. I love salt too! As much as you do! I cut it cold turkey and watch the sodium levels on everything I eat. I keep my levels at 1500mg or less. It's not an easy thing to do but I don't miss it and I feel so much better. Overall feel more energy, fuller at meals and no more bloat! Especially the water retention marks I SO don't miss them! My skin feels so much better as well. Also, I lose weight so much faster! Don't get me wrong I only sparsely salt corn on the cob but that's it! It's like smoking you have to be ready to quit! Good luck!0

I would invest in a blood pressure monitor. Salt affects people differently. You may be able to eat alot more than I can. My blood pressure when I was first diagnosed with hypertension was 200/164. The doctor almost had a heart attack. It is controlled with medication now and since I've been losing weight and exercising its mid 90's/mid60's.
I started to cut back on salt and increase black pepper. Nothing is better than McDonalds french fries dipped in ketchup loaded with black pepper. OK, well there are alot better things.0 -
Try using sea salt rather than regular table salt. It packs a saltier taste and is lower in sodium.0

You may love salt, but too much does not do a body good. I think MFP has 2500 grams / daily allowance - this is plenty for your biological needs.
Hide your salt shaker - really... don't even put it on the table and make it hard to get to. Don't salt your food until you've actually eaten some of it and find it's absolutely necessary. Most people salt food out of reflex vs. taste. You will find the more you taste it the less you really need to salt it. Salt substitue is fine, but why not try using nothing first.0 -
If i were you i would cut it out for two days and then after that only add a dash to you meal. It will taste way better than the past tow days. It is all in will power. i am a big fan of salt too. I try to cook tasty foods that dont need salt or use garlic and other stuff to flavour it instead.0

Lower it slowly. if you try to do it all at once you won't do it at all. It can be done. I use to be over on my salt everyday but now I am pretty good most of the time. I am with salt the way most are with chocolate.0

I did switch to sea salt when my mom head blood pressure problems a few years go. I haven't tried any substitutes yet anyone know of a good one to try? I don't have high blood pressure, but I know it is not good for me. Also, I don't need the extra water retention.0 -
Does the salt seem to be affecting you (high BP??) or hindering your weight loss? Sodium doesn't have the same affect on everyone.0

Exactly this.
It's still a necessary dietary nutrient. You can cut back on the amount you put in your cooking, but you may not need to eliminate entirely. I'm probably on the higher side of salt consumption and have never had an issue with BP. My BP is on the pretty low side, actually.0
