If your Polar Fit says it...

So I decided to use my polar fit monitor today to see how close the machines are to my actual calorie burn. The treadmill was short 38 calories which wasn't really bad. In your opinion, IF the polar fit says I burned 442 calories, should I believe it more than the treadmill reading of 405? I am thinking yes. I know its close and I don't log the polar fit calories anyways as I use a fitbit, which is only measuring steps, but just curious.

You are comparing a rough estimate to a rough estimate.

I have a good question. So my husband just bought me this Polar watch for our workouts. We are both on This site and loving!! But my real question is: if I burned 1500 calories during my day just walking, doing my job ( a Nanny) should I factor those calories in??? Just doesn't seem right if I do.

Your job is part of your activity setting - it's not exercise. Go to the Getting Started forum and read the sticky threads for how to use this site.

And if you are wearing your HRM all day long be aware you can't use a HRM for measuring daily activity anyway.

Well, you factor them into your daily total calories burned, but you don't add them as exercise. Exercise is added in addition to whatever you burn working, shopping, brushing your teeth or whatever you do in the normal course of living. The activity level from your job should be factored in when you set your profile up, where it asked you if you were sedentary/lightly active/very active. You can change that here if needed: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals_guided
