Any Other Minnesotans Out There?

Shedding pounds in the North can be tough when it starts to get cold and you don't want to move. Personally I'm struggling with always wanting to make hot dish for dinner but that not being exactly healthy.
What's your Minnesota quirk that you're struggling to overcome in your weight loss journey?
Also, feel free to add me and we Minnesotans can help support each other through the long winter. It's already snowing in some places!

Hi, another MN person here! I agree the weather makes it hard, also the holidays. I did ok last year but am working out more now so more local friends would be great!0

I'm Minnesotan born and raised (you betcha) but live across the border in WI now.0

I am from MN as well! I struggle with wanting to move from my couch when it is cold. I love snuggling with a blanket and a book. My goal is to do early morning workouts! We'll see if I can do it! I like walking on my lunch break but skipped it today because it was too windy...and there were signs of white flurries. Planning ahead make it easier for me. I also like the recipe builder on here. You can swap out ingredients in your hotdishes to make them healthier! Add me if you'd like!0

If it did, I'd never lose weight. This sums up my love affair with cheese:

I'm born and raised in Minnesota, but have lived in Rome, Italy for 30 years---it's warmer here. However I will be going home in November to visit. It's nice to go home.0

You'll probably be coming home to a bit of a temperature shock! I bet it's been awhile since you've felt temperatures this low.0

I grew up in Alexandria! Small world!0 -
I lived in Minnesota for 27 yrs of my life, until July of this year when I moved to North Carolina. I grew up in Apple Valley and lived in Blaine for abt a year or two, before I moved to NC. :-)0

Central MN here It snowed here all day yesterday, and for the first few hours nothing was sticking...then the ground kept getting whiter and whiter haha. I think I'm actually more active during winter than I am in summer - I can tolerate freezing cold, but haaaate the heat so I get outside more when it's cold.0
-
Im from mid Minnesota. Glade to see other Minnesotans here0
-
West Metro here. Loving the snow and football.0
-
I'm in Southwest MN. Thank goodness for indoor gyms and exercise DVDs or I'd be screwed over winter!0
-
NW Metro....greetings all!0

Me! My son and I moved here from WI for me to finish my undergraduate at the U of M, and I stayed here for my M.Ed. My biggest challenge is exercising year-round. I used to work at a company that had an exercise studio and instructors who came in during lunch breaks. That's pretty much as convenient and inexpensive as it gets, and it's been hard to put in the extra effort to stay in shape since moving. I've also been finding that I tend to get nerve pain from cold, so exercising in cold weather or even swimming in our apartment's unheated pool haven't been great options. It might sound strange, but one thing that my kid and I have started doing is dancing to some of the Just Dance videos on youtube. It's obviously not scored since it's not the real game, but it's free and we both have fun.0

I'm from MN as well! Looking for any new, local friends that can support me and whom I can support in return!0

Whoooo! MN Friends! I'm from south central MN, born & raised. How about them Vikes yesterday?!0
-
Minnesota boy living in New Mexico currently. Go VIKES!!!0
-
Yep, born and raised in MN! Currently in the suburbs of Minneapolis.0
-
Born and raised in Minnesota but I've lived the last 26 years in Houston. I still root for the Vikes (and the Texans). If they met in the Super Bowl I'd be conflicted but I'd say I would secretly root for the Vikes to win in order to mend my broken heart (thank you Fran Tarkington). I have the opposite problem down here--outdoor workouts in the summer are impossible from the heat. Right now is prime running weather in Houston :-)0

Aaaaaah, I grew up in AV too! GO EAGLES. ;D Currently in St. Paul - my sole resolution this year is to walk more, and Lake Como is a cool 2.5mi jaunt for me if anyone else wants to meet up for a stroll some sunny weekend.0
