OK, so the English Channel is 33795.3 meters long.

My pool is 20 metres... so by swimming 1689.8 lengths I'll swim the channel. By swimming 281.6 lengths a day from tomorrow till Thursday next week, I'll have swam the channel. The challenge is on....

Any tips to swim 282 lengths a day?

Thanks lovelies x

Why don't you swim across the English Channel instead of lengthwise?

    No way you're gonna swim 282 laps in a day. At 30 seconds a lap, that's 8460 minutes. That's 141 hours. . . .

This is one time where you may have to adjust your Goals.

I think your maths is a little off... would take just over 2 hours a day.
282 lengths at 30 seconds a length (or 0.5 minutes)
makes in 141 minutes (not hours) which is 2.35 hours.

Its gonna be tough and I know it will be.... wouldnt be a challenge otherwise! :D

No worries... I'll keep you posted!
I managed 120 lengths today, did 150 on Tuesday... I think I can do it - just iot is going to take a long time (which I didnt realise until the post - so thank you!)
Any tips would be grately appreciated!
In the meantime - I have a waterproof mp3 player to help pass the time, and have shaved my legs :D
    Thanks :)

    I'm loving your idea.

I do between 70-140 lengths most days (20m pool) and would be bored stiff without my waterproof MP3. I listen to BBC radio4 podcasts or audiobooks. I love my little nerd machine!

It's good to have a goal. When my husband was marathon training I said I'd match his runs for swims at a 10th of the distance. eg. if he ran 10k I would swim 1k, if he ran 25km I'd run 2.5

I didn't enjoy the fortnight of the marathon, I can tell you!

    Good luck with your challenge!

(and no-one can see how hairy your legs are once you're in the pool... ;-) )
