In order to lose body weight, you have to eat at a deficit. MFP tool will help you . Read the recommended postings at the beginning of this MFP message board. Weigh all of your food intake, use a food scale.
I prepare my own protein shake with whey protein isolate, a banana and almond milk. I blend it and drink it 45 minutes before my daily workout. My intention is to ensure I have enough carbs and protein when I am lifting weights.
Good luck in your healthy journey0 -
I don't use protein shakes for weightloss specifically, but I do use them to help me hit my macros. I strength train 3x a week, gaining lean muscle mass and losing body fat are the goals. I absolutely love Tera's Whey. I buy it off of Amazon.0

I'm not against shakes but it should be chosen wisely. I prefer one should lose weight naturally not through shakes or protein or any other kind of supplements. Focus, diet, exercise and motivation is the only key to lose weight fast.0

Protein shakes are great when one is lacking in protein. Caloric deficit is for losing weight.0

I use protein shake after gym workout, to help muscle rebuild. I remember seeing somewhere they can be used as meal replacement but it is not their main purpose. Like everybody says, you must eat at a deficit, and choose wisely what you eat.0

Calorie in, calorie out so if you replace one of your meals with protein shake of course you will lose weight.0

I lost 80 pounds in 8 months doing a VLC liquid diet in 2006. Got around 135g protein daily, very little fat and carbs. As soon as I stumbled and started back with real food I packed it all back on and another 30 pounds on top of it in about a year. I never learned how to eat doing it, just how to avoid food, so I went right back to my old habits. Now I'm using MFP to track my calories and staying under my goal every day. I do have a Premier Protein shake for breakfast every day because it's a quick and easy way to get 30g protein in and it helps me get through, but everything else is real food. It's nice understanding portion sizes and recognizing my body's hunger cues. Yes, the 44 pounds I've lost in the past 6 months is less than I lost in the same time frame with the liquid diet, but this is sustainable. What I was doing before wasn't, not for me.0

Protein shakes are great if you have trouble hitting your protein consumption goals. They can also be used as meal replacements. You do want to get adequate protein intake when losing weight because with weight loss it's not only fat you lose but muscle as well. They are however, rough on the stomach for many.0

I use a protein drink to up my protein if my food chooses are low in on any given day. I don't use it to replace any meal or snack. I mix it with water and sip it throughout the day.

I use a protein shake to give my protein levels a boost as I find that I don't 'eat' enough of it. Protein shakes won't help you lose weight - it's all about that deficit0

Protein shakes do not make you lose weight, a calorie deficit does.0
