Dropped weight too fast

I stayed off the scale for a time and when I got on I saw I was 177.5. **does a jig** but I always do it two days in a row to make sure it sticks. The next day I was 176.8. Ok odd. And again today I dropped more, 174.9. I'm confused, I weigh every morning same way same time. I'm concerned that I'm losing too fast for reasons other than my diet. I do have a cold and so I'm on sudafed is that causing this? Should I switch meds. I don't want to be dropping weight in an unhealthy way. Or does it matter?

If you're dropping that fast, and you have a healthy intake of calories etc, its more than likely water weight. I doubt its sudafed causing a loss such as that. Just keep an eye on the losses and go from there.0

If your like me Your weight will flucuate pretty drastically. There's allot that comes into play such as water retention, how long since your last meal and how big it was, and many other variables. Think of it like this, if you drank a gallon of water than weighed... You would weigh approx 5 pounds more on the scale.. But you would have gained no sustained weight. I would not weigh more than once a week for this reason. For me personally +-5 pounds is pretty normal if I weigh everyday0

Honestly, fluctuations are super normal for females usually. Water, health, salt, exercise and diet, as well as sleep all play a role. I have bounced 4lbs in a 10 day time frame before, even 5.5 once. I wouldnt worry about it.
Too much at once is like, 5+ in 7 days without effort. THEN Id be concerned.0 -
Meds don't magically dispose of calories, right?0

I've had that happen a few times I am set to lose 1 a week and I'll lose 2-3 lbs in a few days after a 10 day stall then stall again. Weight loss isn't linear. After my last multiple days in a row loss I jumped back up for a week. Sometimes I can relate it to a change in workouts, TOM or eating out but not always. I weigh daily, track it and watch for trends0

Ok thanks guys. I usually only weigh once a week unless I don't believe the scale. I've done this long enough I typically know how much my body fluctuates. This was just different. Usually I gain not lose when I fluctuate.0

I get what you mean. Just a few weeks ago I went from 162 first thing in the morning to 167 THAT NIGHT. I try not to pay attention, and like you, I like to weigh every day. I try to remember the very FIRST piece of advice I ever got on here, which was that anything within 2-3 lbs is a dirty rotten lie until you get it thrice in a row measuring once a week.0 -

You gain and lose when you fluctuate that's why it's called fluctuate ..:)0 -

Me too! For several days, my weight will range 2 to 3 lbs around the same base weight, then I'll suddenly drop 2-3 lbs a day for a couple of days in a row, then start over again. If I only weighed once a week, I would rarely see a change from my base. THAT would drive me nuts. It took about a month before I recognized the cycle and understood that the fluctuating around a base weight did not mean I wasn't losing. It's just the way my body works.0 -
That's happened once.........in the very beginning to me. Nice, huh?0

I've seen my weight fluctuate more than 8lbs in a single day..I think you're doin OK0

-10lbs in a week!
My bloating has gone and I have been working really hard but I'm guessing the majority is water loss. It could be anything. Keep at it0 -
You may also want to check the batteries in your scale - I start showing ridiculous losses when the batteries are running low0

Sounds normal to me. I weigh daily and am always within a 5lb range. I like to think that my lowest number is the "real" number though0
