calories burnt walking on treadmill

60 minutes on treadmill says calories burnt was 240 by treadmill

but 402 by myfitnesspal. 60 minutes walking between 3.5-4.0

So I logged this as walking at 3.0miles instead and it come too 349 in total.

I'm inclined to trust MFP as my weight & height are recorded but almost double seems alot.

Also is knocking off 5mph for extra certainty worth while even if it only accounts to 50 calories?

I was under the impression it's usually the other way around. Thanks

The formula below is considered to be fairly accurate for determining calories burned walking. It's based on a few studies. You can calculate how many calories per mile you burned. So, it's not about how long you walked, but how far you walked.

    WALK
    CALORIES/MILE .57 x wt in lbs

I'd always go with the lowest number.

Mfp appears to be way high. Use half that number.

    231 x .57 = 131 calories. Is that what you mean?

Maybe I'll just not log it, just incase. It's not adding up too much anyway. Thanks ladies :)
