There is not a lot that you can do about stretch marks. They may shrink a little bit but they aren't going to go away.

    They will fade over time.

Stretch marks fade, but they never go away. Creams are a waste of money. Most people have stretch marks, so learn to embrace the look of a body that carried a child.

Sorry honey! Here's the horrible truth. They never disappear but they do fade. Even laser procedures only help fade them faster. The only thing that completely gets rid of them is to have them surgically removed. I definitely understand your struggle and it sucks but the good news is when I see people with absolutely amazing bodies the last thing on my mind is their stretch marks!

Actually, they probably DID help. If you've been using them since you got pregnant, you've been taking care of your skin all the time it has been stretching beyond it's limit. Those skin creams can't eliminate stretch marks, no matter when you use them, but using them throughout pregnancy can limit the damage. Imagine how your stretch marks would be if you hadn't taken preventative measures o.O.

Stretch marks are a breakage of collagen in the skin, nothing that you rub on the surface of the skin is going to fix or prevent that. It might make the skin feel less tight or itchy when stretched, or appear plumper but they are not going to prevent or treat stretch marks.

Despite what everyone here said, I'll just say that my stretch marks came about really quickly, within a few weeks, and I started using Bio Oil on them after about 6 weeks. Now, 6 months later they are noticeable less red and fainter, but they are still there. It helped me a lot, but it's not 100% I'd say 75% better.

I'm just saying well taken care of skin, moisturized and pampered, is going to see less damage from stretching than skin which is never moisturized, scratched often (most anti-stretch mark stuff relieves itching caused by rapid stretching), and in a general state of disrepair. And as much as genetics really determines stretch marks, if your mom had tons of stretch marks with a crummy nutrient-poor diet, you are more likely to have less bad stretch marks with a nutrient-dense, well-balanced diet.

Stretch marks are scar tissue, and they fade like any other scar. Some creams and lotions claim to help the fading, but I don't know if its really the cream, or just time that does most of the work.

I got stretch marks too after having a baby. Like a poster above I also have been using Bio-oil for about 3 months and they are SO much better. I can only speak for myself. They are almost gone on my arms - not so much on my legs and love handles. I am impressed with the progress. I didnt use ANY creams/oils while pregnant by the way. Anyway, you just have to have a little patience and learn to accept them as well. Most people have them - especially moms

My daughter in-law just had a baby and is covered in stretch marks, even though she religiously oiled and applied cream twice a day, also had oil baths regularly throughout her pregnancy.

I had my last kid 20 years ago and my stretch marks are still noticeable. I tried every "stretch mark cream" I could find, but none of them helped :disappointed:

Stretch marks suck, unfortunately once they're there, they are with you for life.

I have stretch marks, and have since I had my babies (25 and 24 years ago). Some of them were wide and purple back then, but they are the same color as the rest of my skin now, and don't show even when I wear a bikini.
Using a good moisturizer regularly, drinking a lot of water, eating right, and avoiding yo=yoing weight are all good things to keep stretch marks looking as invisible as possible.

If they are still red, you can talk to a dermatologist. Creams used to heal scars can help. If they start fading to white, only surgery will remove them.

I got stretch marks during puberty when I went through a growth spurt. I'm 32 now and they're still visible. They don't bother me though.

Embrace them. No one cares but us as individuals and they do fade, a tan will improve the look of them. Give it a year and they will not be very visible unless you know they are there.

Hey! I've never had a baby but my tummy has always been full of stretch marks because of rapid weight gain in the past.
I've recently lost 80+ pounds and I don't even notice my stretch marks anymore! I think a combination of a healthy diet and losing weight is what caused them to fade. There IS hope, but like others have said, you shouldnt let them bother you.... everyone has them and they will always be there whether you notice them or not :)
