Drinks.. waste of calories or not?

It depends on what you consider a 'waste'. Sugar drinks and alcohol have no nutritive value, so on that scale they are worthless. But Red wine, OTOH, has some phyto-nutrient benefits. Plus, dammit, even a diet meal just works better with a little splash of the vino. It all depends on what is important. I can give up all the various trash liquids, and drink nothing but water and iced tea all day - but a glass of red with my salad gives even a diet a touch of class.0

If I eat all my calories, I find myself stuffed throughout the entire day so I drink a lot of hot chocolate, LOL. Plus having hot chocolate makes me not want real chocolate, I normally drink about 3 a day, but it's been getting up to 5 lately because I'm studying a lot and it's boring haha. I've not gained any weight from it, I don't feel deprived of food so for me I don't view it as a waste, I enjoy them and eat fairly well the rest of the time. (:0

I do consider them a waste and since starting MFP I've only really drank water and black tea, but do have the occasional cider or glass of wine . I've never been a massive soda fan anyway but did drink them occasionally... I tried drinking one the other day and didn't like it at all!0

I don't like to waste my calories on drinks. The only drink I'm ok with using calories is milk.
Me too. I would DIE without milk0 -
I love drinking water, but if I only drank it and not any drinks with calories in, I would struggle to net my intake for the day. I always drink OJ on a morning and have 2-3 cups of coffee and tea...and yes...a glass of wine does give salad a touch of class!0

I definitely choose to use my calories on food rather than drinks - I think I'd starve otherwise!0

Total waste of calories, especially when there's great calorie free stuff availabl! ie vitamin water zero, sobe lifewater, countless varieties of tea/iced tea... Just not worth drinking a coke.0
