Tabata and getting balance back

Options
I have recently started doing Tabata 2x a week and have classes for the next 6 weeks, has anyone had success doing this type of fitness program, I had my baby 3 months ago and i have noticed my balance is REALLY off, will these classes help gain that back and what is something I can do to work on it at home? I ride horses, so getting my balance back is a big focus right now.

You should see a doctor about those issues.

I do tabata as my HIIT twice a week.
The exercises that I do are, slamming a ball on the ground, using a vipr to hit a boxing bag, kettle bell swings, and a plank. Sometimes, I push a tyre down a walkway, or step up onto a platform. At the end, I want to curl onto the floor and cry.

None of these are for balance. But with practice, you get better at each exercise.

I ice skate - which requires balance. At home I have a balance board, which is used every day. Yoga & pilates are also good for balance.

If you have issues with your balance - find out what is best for you, and work on that. I don't think a general HIIT class, like tabata, would specifically improve balance.

If you've been cleared to exercise by your doctor look into finding a trainer with a Corrective Exercise Specialization. Poor balance can be caused by many things and one source of it is in the Core musculature. When a women is pregnant their rectus abdominus actually pulls apart a little, there's added stress on your hips, your back; as you already know your body really takes a beating in many ways. A Corrective Exercise Specialist can help you for sure. Tabata is more about conditioning, nothing wrong with that, but I don't believe Tabata will help with your Balance issue. Also, an instructor well versed in Pilates as it was originally developed (Strength & Core Stabilization) and not this muscle elongation crapola'.

Have you talked to your doctor specifically about your balance issues? If not, you should. There could be many things that are causing it some physical and many neurological. I have a permanently dislocated sacral joint because of an accident but have been told it is also an injury that occurs in women who have given vaginal birth. My issues cause me to have serious balance problems. In fact, I gave up martial arts because of it. What has helped me the most is core training. Strengthening the muscles that surround my pelvis has been key to getting most of my balance back.

Tabata? Tabata's study, IE1 protocol, consist of 20 seconds of ultra-intense exercise at an intensity of about 170% of VO2max followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated continuously for 4 minutes (8 cycles) on a mechanically braked cycle ergometer. Why are you doing this?

Or are you referring to the popular culture, "Tabata training", that wrongly associate or misrepresent any intervals performed (over a wide variety exercise regimens) as HIIT, that may or may not have similar benefits to those found in Tabata's original study? If you are really doing Tabata, form is normally out the window and if you can stay upright you are OK.

My doctor has given me the ok to start working out. I think my balance is off just due to my pregnancy, I used to work out a lot with a personal trainer prior to becoming pregnant, however I have moved a province away and to a very small town where the options are very limited. (closest city is 2hrs away)
The class I am in is called Tabata, we do 8 cycles of each excersise 25 seconds with 10 second rest and 45 second break between starting a new excersise.. (Planking, weight, squats, ect...)
I chose this because I used to do HIIT with a personal trainer and had amazing results he was x military and a lot of the workouts where based on what they did in training as well as TRX.
I don't have access to the equipment in this town to continue with what I had started with my Trainer and this class is the only thing that is being offered currently...
I do ride performance horses and do things at high speed and this is where I notice my balance/stability is way off and this is where I need it most. So I will keep up with doing core exercises and just all round getting back into shape!
