So today my grandparents are coming to town for my brother's graduation. (Now, my family is very unhealthy. both my parents are overweight & my older brothers are skinny, but eat whatever they want.) Anyway, we had to pick a place to eat for lunch & my mom chose Buca di Beppo. It's an italian restaurant and i cant find the menu anywhere online! help! :( I don't know if any of you have been there and had to choose what to eat, but i would really love suggestions !

my daughter picked it last week for her birthday, so just had that challenge. they do make single serving items now (thank goodness) which are easier to track. There are several meals on this site that you can find. I ended up going with the cheese ravioli with marinara sauce, which I was able to fit in with little difficulty! the trick for me was not selecting anything with "cream" in the description!

Just remember portion control. If you can't eat all of it, don't! Save half of it and have leftovers for tomorrow.
  • I don't know if it has nutrition info or not but you can go to their website and select your location to see the menu.

I don't know about calories in there food items but make sure you don't get "white" sauce food and ask for half of it boxed before it's even served to you so then you aren't tempted to eat the whole thing!

IMO, get something you like in a half portion.

I read in self magazine...diet tip when dining. Out, Is to order first so as not to be tempted by an other order.

The challenge with Buca di Beppo, of course, is that they serve "family style", which means they just haul out bowl after bowl of food that you pass around to fill your own plate, like at home.

So it's your job just to follow your usual good eating practices and ladle out what you know are the right portion sizes for yourself. Focus on what you know would make a good, reasonable meal. When you're done, you're done -- regardless of what's left in those bowls, and regardless of whether the folks around you are still eating (and probably pushing "seconds" on ya...right?). You eat what YOU know is right. :)

Also, there's the advice I've seen given elsewhere to drink plenty of water before and with the meal, to fill your stomach and make you feel "full" sooner. Not sure if I believe that one, I've never tried it...but there it is.

Nothin' here you can't do...and I bet you already do this at home anyway! Enjoy your time with your grandparents, and give your brother a big Congratulations on his graduation!
