MFP is designed for you to eat them back. Many people find the calorie burns are over-estimated, so they only eat back a portion of the calories -- maybe 25-75%.

Only eat all of them if you're 100% certain about the accuracy of your burns. But yes, you should be eating some of them if you follow MFP's goals.

    This.

If you're using MFP's estimates for calorie burn though, I'd probably eat half them back.

I set my own goals so I don't. But, if you use MFP's set goal for you.... it is set for your normal activity burn... and gives you a goal based on that with NO exercise. Then, you log your exercise. So, you should therefore eat your exercise calories to stay within the deficit goals MFP gives you.

Edited... sorry I was explaining how I do it :) I set my own goal, then eat more or less depending on how much I exercised that day based on my TDEE calculations :)

I set my own goals so I don't. But, if you use MFP's set goal for you.... it is set to take into account your estimated workout burns. However, if you are exercising more than planned or less than planned... that should be taken into account and you adjust from there (eat less if you aren't working out, more if you are working out more).

MFP's set goals are NOT taking estimated workout burns into account, only your everyday activity level. Workouts are completely separate.

You're right - sorry. I was explaining how I do it with TDEE calculations, got the 2 backwards. It's been a long day.

No worries. It's a natural side effect of having so many different ways to set up goals!
