"A man does not come to the alms-house or the jail by the tyranny of fate or circumstance, but by the pathway of groveling thoughts and base desires. Nor does a pure-minded man fall suddenly into crime by stress of any mere external force; the criminal thought had long been secretly fostered in the heart, and the hour of opportunity revealed its gathered power. Circumstance does not make the man; it reveals him to himself."- James Allen

"Imagine this exercise: you take a homing pigeon out of its roost, put it in a cage, cover the cage with a blanket, put the cage in a box and then place the box into a closed truck cab. You can then drive a thousand miles in any direction. If you then open the truck cab, take out the box, take off the blanket and let the homing pigeon out of the cage, the homing pigeon will fly up into the air, circle three times and then fly unerringly back to its home roost a thousand miles away. This is the only creature on earth that has this incredible cybernetic, goal-seeking function, except for man.

You have the same goal achieving ability as the homing pigeon, but with one marvelous addition. When you are absolutely clear about your goal, you do not even have to know where it is or how it is to be achieved. By simply deciding exactly what it is you want, you will begin to move unerringly toward your goal, and your goal will start to move unerringly toward you."- Brian Tracy

"In 1979, the graduates of the MBA program at Harvard were asked, “Have you set clear, written goals for your future and made plans to accomplish them?” It turned out that only 3% of the graduates had written goals and plans. 13% had goals, but they were not in writing. Fully 84% had no specific goals at all, aside from getting out of school and enjoying the summer. Ten years later, in 1989, they interviewed the members of that class again. They found that the 13% who had goals, but which were not in writing were earning on average twice as much as the 84% of students who had had no goals at all. But most surprisingly, they found that the 3% of graduates who had clear, written goals when they left Harvard were earning, on average, ten times as much as the other 97% of graduates all together. The only difference between the groups was the clarity of the goals they had for themselves when they started out."- Mark McCormack

    IF I had money…
    IF I wasn't fat...
IF I didn't break my arm...
    IF I didn't have asthma..
IF only I had the right mentors...
IF I had the right support...
IF I had a gym membership...
IF only I had a car...
IF I only had time …
IF conditions around me were only different …
IF I could only get out of debt …
IF other people would only listen to me …

"IF I had the courage to see myself as I really am, I would find out what is Wrong With Me, And Correct It, then I might have a chance to profit by my mistakes and learn something from the experience of others, for I know that there is something WRONG with me, or I would now be where I WOULD HAVE BEEN IF I had spent more time analyzing my weaknesses, and less time building alibis to cover them." - Napoleon Hill

    The Winner
"I decided to be a great runner
    Determined to win every race
To bask in the glory to tell all my story
To make sure the world knew my face.

For years I had dreamt of the conquest
gold medals and fortune and fame
So I gave up my leisure
    I sacrificed pleasure
And worked every day at my game.

There were time that I wanted to give up
For the work didn't seem like a friend
Yet each day I grew stronger
    ran faster and longer
Efforts more than just means to an end.

So a contest at length I would enter
    And show everybody my pace
    I worked for this day
Paid the price all the way
I would settle for none but first place.

As the gun went off and we started
I quickly shot out in the lead
    Ahead of the pack
    all the runners way back
Only one seem to keep at my speed.

Then I noticed that one was now gaining
Then he passed me with effortless stride
    But try as I might
    To put up a fight
I was losing the race, and my pride

Then to my amazement he stumbled.
Went down in the dirt, hard and fast
    With number one out,
    There wasn't a doubt
This was my race to win now, at last

Without thinking I picked up my brother
And he shouted "go on now you've won"
    But Hobbling and holding
    Despite all his scolding
    We finished together our run.

Now I know many think that I am crazy
For I gave up a race that was mine
    See, many went past
In fact, we came in dead last
But years later, don't worry I'm fine

For I have learned that the mark of a winner
Is not if you come in first place
    But how many you aid
    And the price you paid
To helping others who run in the race"

    "I am thankful for…

The taxes I pay because it means that I’m employed.

The clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat.

My shadow who watches me work because it means I am out in the sunshine.

A lawn that has to be mowed, windows that have to be washed and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home.

The spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I am capable of walking.

All the complaining I hear about our government because it means we have freedom of speech.

That lady behind me in church who sings off key because it means that I can hear.

The huge piles of laundry and ironing because it mans my loved ones are nearby.

The alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means that I am alive."
