Lack of IRL support

So in my day to day life outside of the internet I have little support for my weight loss. My weight loss at times has been met with disdain, hostility, dismissal and laughter. I would say it put a huge damper on my weight loss today of 1.2lbs when my friend said that MFP was stupid and what I was doing was stupid. I've looked online for support groups locally but there appears to be none that isn't for weight loss surgery so I thought I'd ask those that don't have support in their life for advice. How do you get by with a lack of support from those around you?

I just don't discuss it with them. They can think it's stupid and laugh all they want, but I'll be the one laughing when they see how successful I've been.

Let the results speak for you.

Yeah, I don't discuss it with them, so much as they see me logging or checking my fitbit and make comments. Thank you by the way. I'm 100% doing this for me and only me.

I think Ninkyou is on the mark there. If someone is being pushy or critical about your diet, just take the high road and change the subject. If they're a person you're close to, maybe ask them not to comment if they don't have something supportive to say.

People can be really weird about other people's diets. I think it triggers a lot of insecurities that can lead less tactful folks to be rude. Try not to let it impact your motivation - 1.2lbs down is great, and you should be proud!

Yeah, I've had people suggest my use of a scale is neurotic. Whatever. It can be tough to ignore people, but you just have to focus on doing what you know works for you. I mean, when you really get down to it, what they think about what your doing is irrelevant. It just doesn't feel that way sometimes, but if you keep reminding yourself of that fact, one of these days you may believe it and will legitimately not care about what they say on this topic. :)
