Hey! I'm just restarting the my fitness pal journey, I had great success with it 3 years ago but
fell off the wagon, stopped exercising and now I'm heavier than ever. So, I have 2 stone or 28lb to lose, which at 5ft 1 will be a slow and steady process. I was wondering if there were any other shorter ladies who might want to share their experience, especially to do with calorie allowance per day. I'd also really appreciate any friends as I know that was key to motivation and success last time around :-) thanks lovely mpf people :-)

Hi, I'm brand new to this. I'm 5'0" and have 2 1/2 stones to lose. I gained my weight after having my son, he didn't sleep and I just ended up eating junk for the energy, then go stuck in a rut. 3 years and 3 stones later I really need to get back in shape, so likewise really need help with motivation and any tips you might come and am happy to do the same in return. Hi, I'm 5ft 0" [aged67] and started on MFP on August 12th at 11st 7lbs [161lbs] 3 stone or 56lbs overweight. MFP gave me a calorie allowance of 1200 to lose at 0.5lbs per week but I'm pleased to say I have been losing considerably more than that and to date have already lost 1st 4lbs [18lbs] and at weigh in tomorrow I expect to lose another 1lb and be down to 10st 2lbs [142lbs].

I have a bad back so cant do exercises like running or lifting but I do use my exercise bike and I go for walks. I don't eat back my exercise calories, just use them as a bonus to my calorie deficit.

I like cooking and try to make my evening dinner as yummy as possible. I eat a wide variety of foods, meat, poultry, fish, seafood, low fat dairy, potatoes, rice, pasta, loads of different vegetables and fruit. Although I do not eat cakes, biscuits and pastry I have chocolate a couple of times a week so I don't feel deprived. I actually enjoy my food MORE now!

Good luck with your weight loss journey.

You can add me as a friend if you like :)

Hey! I'm 5'2, and I've finally reached a healthy BMI, but I now changed my goals and want to lose another 10-15lbs. Haha. Go ahead and add me as a friend, but leave a message reminding me that you found me on this thread. You're absolutely correct in believing that health buddies are the key to success. There were SO many times that I nearly gave up, but MFP has kept me on track. I also seriously recommend planning your meals AT LEAST 24 hours in advance, and to never eat stuff you can't imagine eating for the rest of your life. Temptations have become increasingly easier for me to resist because of this.
Remember that you WILL struggle in the beginning, and that's okay. My first two months consisted of many days where I fell off track and binged. HOWEVER, each time that happened, I walked two extra miles the next day, and looked forward. Eventually, I learned to control myself, and now I don't even eat or crave junk food really. Exercise and health are your friends, NOT your enemies.
I know MFP people are totally against it, but I personally eat 1200 calories a day, and I don't eat back my exercise calories. I do a 90 (clean)/10 (non-clean) type of eating, so I'm never hungry, and I almost always hit my protein goals. I did start taking a multivitamin a couple weeks ago though for stuff that's hard to fit in. Please learn from others' experiences. I've never had significant weight loss issues and plateaus because I researched these problems thoroughly and knew how to avoid them. Sooooo, GOOGLE AND MFP ARE YOUR BEST FRIENDS!!

At the end of the day, only you know what's best for you. Listen to everyone's advice, remember that CICO and happiness are the only requirements to sustainable weight loss, and from there, you can create your own healthy lifestyle. Go at your own comfortable pace; I literally used to eat a bag of chips a day, but I made a plan, and weaned myself from that habit. I found that I wanted and chose to eat healthier in time, especially after logging in unhealthy foods so much. It's one thing to eat bad and another to have to type down that I ate so poorly. Good luck!! ^_^

Hi! Jenn from New York here. I am 5'2 and have about 20 more pounds to lose. I find it difficult to get under the 150 lb mark. My short body wants to be at that weight. But I know I would feel more comfortable at approx 130. So I joined MFP 8 days ago after already losing 8 lbs on my own (before I joined MFP).

I find that MFP keeps me much more accountable than anything else. It really puts things into perspective.

I cook most of my meals and I think that's an important part of being healthy and having more control over weight loss.

I am also looking for some MFP friends so I'll be adding you! Good luck !
