I'm 5'10" and 280lbs, but I want to join the U.S. Navy as an officer after graduating college in two years. Any advice on dropping weight and getting fit enough to meet regulation would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not a military veteran, but my husband just completed OCS this spring...I would suggest you start now on a calorie deficit to get your weight down and work on endurance. After a little googling, I found the weight limit for your height to be 191 or so. I would start by walking and go from there. You can look up the charts for the PFAs, and you should shoot for more than the minimum amounts...hubby didn't prep enough and he had a rough time. They really run you ragged.

ETA: here's the OCS page I found: http://www.ocs.navy.mil/pt.asp

Also, when you get your weight down you can start talking to a recruiter about the physical requirements. They are always willing to help because they want you to succeed.

    Good luck!!
