Hi due to a cycling accident I have been left with a couple of broken vertebrae, I am still wearing a back brace, and gaining a couple of pounds each month on average, looking for advice on appropriate exercise and stopping the weight gain....

I have no idea what exercise would be safe for you. That's probably a question for your doctor.

As for your weight, you'll need to reduce your calorie intake to your current maintenance level in order to stop gaining. It takes less energy to run a body that is exercising less. You'll need to be meticulous about your food logging since you can't exercise off excess calories.

Thank you I am trying to drop them to 1200 per day, struggling as I would normally exercise each day and eat more, do you think the drop in calories is enough

Ouch! Hope you heal quickly but definitely speak to your doctor before risking anything x

Don't go below 1200. Depending upon your height and current weight, your maintenance calories may by quite a bit higher than that. Have you recalculated your MFP goals to see what it gives for sedentary with your stats? That will give you an estimate to try for a few weeks. Once you have some data, you can adjust your calories to what your body actually uses.

You're trying to heal so I wouldn't recommend that you try to lose any weight right now, just try to find a calorie amount where you maintain rather than gain.
