Hello , My name is Crystal. I am the mother of six kids and I am also a nurse. I just started to workout but sometimes I feel guilty for leaving them and going to workout. I know I need to do this for me as well as them, but I cant seem to not feel guilty. This is probally one of the reasons I gained this weight. I also feel like my job takes over.I've always put my kids and patients first, but somehow I forgot about me. I guess its time to get back to take care of me. Right now, Im currently 261 pounds. I would like to drop a 100 pounds. Anyways thanks for reading. Im just venting

Weight loss doesn't require exercise - only a calorie reduction.
If you have 6 kids, you probably already get a daily workout.

It's hard sometimes to find balance. I have tried to be creative when it comes timing my exercise time and I try to be flexible. I don't know the age ranges of your kids or what specific exercise you do, but can you include them in some of it. When I take my kids to the park I actually get out there and play with them. At home we sometimes do foot races and push up/sit up contests. I have done workout DVDs, some with and some without the kids. I work full time and some times will go to the gym or run on my lunch hour since that is the only free time I have that day to squeeze it in. Don't feel guilty about doing exercise because in the long run you are doing it FOR your kids, too. They deserve to have a healthy, happy momma. Best wishes to you.

Ditto what Cherimoose said. You can probably get there with calorie deficit alone. Just be kind and patient with yourself. Weight loss is a learning experience for your body and mind. Getting your kids to participate in your lifestyle choices could also be a good idea to keep you on track. Good luck!

My experience is that I exercise to get healthier and stronger and happier, but no amount of exercise will undo the damage done by extra calories. I just gained back half of a 20 lb loss ... ... ... in 12 weeks. I am logging again and staying under and determined that the next 12 weeks will see a change in the POSITIVE direction.

If I want to make sure my weight doesn't spiral out of control, it's a lot less (stress, emotional, trying-to-fix-something-inside-with-something-outside) eating that will do 80% of the job. Exercise is the other 20%. TBH I don't have time or conditioning to burn the kind of calories I would love to chow down - so I have to eat less and healthier, first.

And KUDOS for doing something to take care of yourself - this is part of the "put the oxygen mask on yourself first" advice we all hear. Your kids will be better off life long, your whole family will have an opportunity to develop healthier habits with you, you will be a power of example to your family and your improved health is the best motivation for your patients too. You will live longer, to be there for the people you care about and for. One day at a time, you can do it!!
