Start with sedentary. If you discover you are losing weight faster than expected, then you're probably burning more calories than you think you are, and you can kick it up to "lightly active."

    I would start with sedentary.

Sedentary, for sure. Log your workouts and eat your extra calories and see how it goes. :)

You won't have to limit yourself to 1,200 calories a day. MFP is designed for you to eat back your exercise calories. Some people find that the calorie burns provided by MFP are over-estimated, so they only eat back 25-75% of them. Even with that, if you're working out regularly, you can eat more than 1,200.

Correct. If you don't get enough of a calorie bank, add in some activity and eat it back. I am someone who believes the burns on MFP are overestimated so my rule of thumb is to multiply whatever MFP says I burned by .666 and enter that as my number (basically I eat back 2/3 of the calories burned...ideally. I've been getting out of my allotment lately so I need to watch that..)

Your profile says you have 8 pounds to go. I would put your settings to lose .5 pounds a week so you can eat more than 1200 calories a day.

You guys are awesome for taking time to help. Just to make sure I'm clear.
I have a desk job so I'm set to sedentary.
Goal 1200 - 951 (as of this moment today) + exercise 593 (adjustment calories zeroed out / 593 calories from separate heart rate monitor) = 842. ???????? Can I also enter calories my Fitbit says I have burned throughout the day??????

If you have a fitbit, you should definitely link it with MFP, then you don't have to worry about manually entering it. Plus, then you don't have to worry about what activity level you set, since fitbit will determine that for you.

Here is a group about using fitbit with MFP. Check out the FAQ, should tell you all you need to know to get started! http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users

Yes, definitely sync your fitbit up with MFP. Takes the guess work out of everything, then you'll know how many extra calories you can eat back. Also don't forget to enable "negative adjustments".
Do all this and you won't have to worry about what activity level you are set at.

Set your activity level to sedentary, enable negative calorie adjustments and let your fitbit do the rest.

I said I had a Fitbit but was using that name in general. I actually have a Microsoft Band. Any idea how to enter daily calories? It requires entering 'seconds' for duration of workout. I guess I'll just turn 24 hrs into seconds. I don't think it will allow that many digits.

    Hook it up to MFP.
