I hated myself for a long time, especially after regaining the weight I had lost (and I lost a lot.) I'm not sure what sparked inside of me to make the change but I did and I'm down 30lbs now.

The journey is a long one, but I've been living by this mantra, "Suffer the pain of discipline, or suffer the pain of regret."

It's going to hurt and suck, but it also hurt me a lot to see myself hurting my body in another way,

Hi! Feel free to add me. What are your interests? I find that I have the most motivation when I incorporate fitness into the things I already like.

Same here. I guess we all have our highs and lows. Feel like I've been dieting for 20+ years - always having some temporary success but end up losing steam along the way. Trying something different this time in the hopes of a more permanent fix. Joined the Eat more 2 weigh less group here on MFP to try to change my view towards food and WeightLoss. Can always use the encouragement and support when those lows hit though.. So please feel free to add me. I will do the same. Thanks

What I have found and what surprises me is that this does not hurt or suck. What hurt and sucked for me was being 80lbs heavier and being tired just because I had rolled over to get out of bed and having my knees hurt when I walked. I can walk now and not get out of breath. I'm not a slave to food.

Oh sweetheart hating yourself is such a drain on you and an enormous waste of your energy and really it just sucks the life out of you and stuffs your self-esteem......no-one deserves that kind of self punishment.....

Something to think of - Play your inner thought patterns and the way you deride yourself mentally out loud....Ask yourself would you speak to anyone using the tone, words or intention that you use on yourself. If the answer is a big NO and I have no doubt that it will be....then use that point to challenge those thought patterns.

Now sounds like the time for some meaningful deep personal reflection as to the Whys and Wherefores of this whole process and start to implement far better coping mechanisms for the future.

If you are at a loss or feel the struggle is too much to deal with on your own enlist some outside help. CBT can be invaluable for this.....put all that negative energy into finding a more positive outlet.

Maybe defer the weight loss goals and eat at maintenance while these issues are dealt with.....conquering too many demons at once can be just too much. Try at all times to use the time and space to nurture yourself with the food that you love to eat all in moderation and maybe get in some exercise to help with raising your endorphin levels as this can really help a low mood.

I wish you all the very best. Take care of yourself. You most certainly deserve it.
