Whey Protein

I keep reading conflicting articles surrounding how useful whey protein is.
Am I able to get enough protein from my food or is it best to have extra?
I typically do cardio around 4 times a week, weight train at least 5 times too
Thoughts?

It's just another protein source. No reason to need it if you get plenty of protein from your diet, no reason to avoid it if it's more convenient than another source for you.0

If you are lifting heavy you should aim for about .8g protein / lb of body weight. If whey helps you get their fine if you can get their without whey fine.
Beyond that what John said.0 -

I'm not sure if you are asking how much you protein you should eat, if so take your body weight in pounds and multiply by .8 and eat that many grams of protein per day.
example:
if you weigh 150 lbs
eat 150*.8 g of protein or 120g protein per day.
If you are extremely obese you could drop to a bit lower # of g.

Whey is a fast digesting protein. For weight training you want to have whey within 30 minutes of your workout as this is when your muscles need the nutritional support. Ideally, you want to take it with a fast digesting carb with it. If you are not really pushing on weight training, probably not that important. But if your strength training is intense then you will not get the full benefit of your workout without proper nutritional support. Whey is a complete protein, which means it includes the BCAA's.
For cardio, if you are doing an intense and long session, a small amount of whey and larger amount of fast digesting carbs 30 to 60 minutes before your workout will improve your endurance. Again, if it is a light short session, no benefit.
For fast digesting carbs to mix with whey I prefer labrada power carb in unflavored to add to the whey.0 -
Cut weights to 3 times week, cardio to 2 times. Much better....less cortisol.0
