I have always heard they are the hardest to get off but good grief!!!!
Ok so I have lost a total of 93 pounds, 53 of those since May. I am 5'2" and weight 137lbs. My weight came off very easy and I really didn't even have to work at it as long as I stuck to my plan I lost very consistently. Since May I have cycled between very low carb and counting calories, no to very little exercise, this system has worked very well for me. Now I am to the last 10 pounds, still not exercising, I truly, truly hate it, I am counting calories and I am just stuck. I have tried upping my calories to maintenance, 1400-1500 a day, I have tried lowering them, I have gone to 800 and up to 1000 and up to 1200 and nothing seems to work. I eat whatever I want as long as it fits into my calories.
What is your experience with this? What is your advice? I know I need to be patient so you can leave that bit out. I am ready to get these 10 off and move on to maintenance. Is exercise really the answer? Is that what I am going to have to do to get it off? Eat at 1200 and exercise? TIA

I'm also in my last 7 lbs, and really, I'm having to up the exercise. I'm including weights at this point and walking on the days I'm not doing Zumba class. I simply cannot eat at the level I'd need to eat at to lose. It's really too little food. I'm older, so that may differ from you. I already don't get many calories to lose. The other thing I'm doing is really watching that I get enough water. I think maybe I wasn't staying on track with that well enough.
Good luck. We're bound to get there!0 -
This happened to me with my last 20. Still trying to get there. But I have noticed significant improvement in the past month since adding more cardio (Spin). Started with 3 45 minute sessions per week and have just upped it to 4. It is definitely helping.0

I have thought about this, just staying where I am for now, letting my body rest and trying again in Jan. I am very happy with my body size right now but really want to be more like 130 to have a cushion in the ups and downs.

I'm 5'0" myself. We always hear those last 10 pounds are the hardest to lose and I believe it's even tougher at our height. I highly suggest you research intermittent fasting, specifically Leangains. There is an intermittent fasting group here on MFP with some great information. IF is the best thing I've ever discovered. Read up on it, give it a try, I believe it'll help you get rig of those last 10 pounds.

I will read up on it, thanks! I think I already do that, not on purpose, I eat last at about 7pm, and then don't eat again until about 2pm the next day, it is hard to get my calories in way though.0 -
My experience has been that the last 10 lbs require regular exercise, cardio and weights and quality food. Up the intensity of your workouts and focus on clean eating and cutting excess salt and sugar.0

I'm in my last 10 (5'4", 145 (lost 44 lbs) and shooting for 135) and it's tough to lose more than half a pound a week. I like the reset idea and am playing with maintenance strategies a few days a week. More than ever, it's important to be kind to yourself. For me a major source of inspiration went away when the world around me stopped viewing me as fat. While that in itself isn't an invitation to go off the rails, it's hard to maintain the same intensity. It's a cliché, but I'd say...listen to your body, and look into body recomposition techniques, not just weight loss. Sometimes working on a new area prompts results all over.0
