I am eating healthy during the day, and I also drink tons of water and green tea.. But as soon as like 8-10pm rolls around I get crazy hunger and I can't control my self. I don't keep any bad junk food or anything in the house for that reason but does anyone know how to help night time eating? I can't seem to control it ?!!

Leave calories available for night time eating.0

How many calories are you eating per day? Sometimes when I'm "crazy hungry" it is because I am not eating enough.0

I used to be the same, I would eat per plan during the day and at dinner but when 9pm comes rolling around I would snack. I got over it by logging every snack I ate after dinner. Before I went to bed I would look over my diary and noticed that if I didn't eat all those extra snacks I would be at my calorie limit and consistently losing weight. After about the tenth time of kicking myself after a day of extra snacks it finally got through my head that I just can't be eating like that before bed!! One snack is okay and normal but the consistent snacking had to stop. I still have bad days but they are far and few between now.0

Could it just be a force of habit? For a long time my habit was that every day when I got home from work at 4 pm, I would immediately snack on junk food until I made dinner. Now, my habit is that when I get home at 4, I immediately change into my workout clothes and go to the gym. HOWEVER I still feel that immediate pull of hunger. The whole time I'm driving home I'm thinking, "Hungry hungry hungry hungry." But once I get home, if I can change my clothes and get to the gym, I find those immense "hunger pains" immediately vanish and I can have a good workout. I'm not really hungry at 4 pm, I just have this years-long habit of eating at 4 pm. I can really wait until 6:30 pm and have a good, healthy dinner.
It could just be that you aren't hungry but your habit is always at that time to have something to munch on. Maybe try substitute something else. "Oh, I'm getting those hunger pains again--maybe I should go for a walk instead." Or try jumping jacks or crunches. Or take up a hobby that keeps your hands busy, something that engages you, not just sitting in front of the TV or computer.0 -

This! Most of my overeating was boredom, sitting on the couch in front of the TV. Now, if I feel hungry, I pause what I'm watching and walk around outside and get some fresh air, do a quick chore, something to take my mind off of it. Also, I have learned to live with a little bit of hunger. I know it isn't going to kill me. I hit my calorie goals, so there really isn't any reason for me to be hungry other than the fact that my body is used to getting calories I'm not giving it any more.0 -
I have the exact same problem! I'm also the sort of person who drinks milk or has a snack before bed usually.
In the end I've had to shuffle my calorie control and ignored the "big breakfast rule". At 1200 I eat just 120 calories for breakfast (porridge) so that I can increase my meal size throughout the day and have huge filling dinners, which eradicates the hunger for me.
Maybe you could benefit from this?0 -
Between 8-10 p.m. is when I usually consume most of the calories. I find it easier to eat light during the day than at night so I just go with what my body wants.0

^this. I have never been a fan of breakfast - I'm not hungry when I wake up and can usually give or take lunch. I love eating at night before bed so I save most calories for that time frame. However, on the rare occasion I'm hungry during the day I will have something suitable for my hunger level at the time, but still try to save the bulk of my calories for the evening. Listen to your body.0 -
Thank you for all the help and replies! I will do my best with this one.0

yup me too, the vast majority of my calories are eaten at night0 -
Nighttime is definitely my hungry time. I try to keep more than enough cals available. I'm able to eat a nice dinner that I enjoy. I also HATE going to bed hungry. I'm up all night if I'm hungry.0

I go to bed. Maybe not to sleep, I read or watch tv but it gets me farther away from food.0

Me too. I'm less hungry during the day, so I use it to my advantage . My day starts at 8am with just coffee. I don't even start to think about food until about noon. Then I'll eat light, like an apple and yogurt. The bulk of my calories are from 5-10pm. If you're a person that is naturally hungrier at night, just switch things around to make it work for YOU.

I do this as well. Eating breakfast has always made me feel sick, and I have always liked going to bed with a full tummy. Basically, I still eat three meals. I just "save" breakfast for right before bed. Come to think of it, I usually eat breakfast-y type foods then too! Bagels and oatmeal and eggs and sausage and yogurt and stuff.0
