Are you using it as a fertility treatment? Because that is it's only legitimate use. Using it otherwise is dangerous and should not be done.

Not only is it dangerous and temporary, it is also against MFP guidelines.

Considering that it's a prescription medication that is only prescribed as a fertility treatment, there's no legal way to actually get it to use it for any other purpose.
    Absolutely none.

Sounds like misery to me. Plus needles that are not giving me tattoos are not fun!

It's the 500 calories a day that drops the weight, not the injections. Unless you have an eating disorder, you won't be able to keep up the 500-calories-a-day thing. It's the very definition of crash dieting: You starve, drop a little weight, Woo Hoo, flying high. Then you become exceedingly hungry and eat everything in sight. You crash. The lost weight is regained, sometimes with additional pounds.

People do these crash diets all the time. It's for people who like to lose and gain the same five or ten pounds - people who like to diet as a game, not people who are serious about weight loss. People who really want to lose weight and keep it off don't crash diet.

Unless you get these injections from a doctor, you don't know what is in those syringes. It could be absolutely anything. Odds are that it's just saline, but you don't know, not for sure.

When you inject or swallow a substance and you don't know what is in it, you are literally risking life.

The 500 calories a day is silliness, but injecting/swallowing mystery items is foolish. Don't do it!!!

If you're serious about wanting to lose weight, skip the crash diets and get to work on learning to eat right and exercise.

The HCG doesn't actually do anything. It's an expensive placebo to trick you into thinking you're not hungry on 500 calories a day.

    Hello,

I'm writing to let you know that our Community Guidelines ( http://www.myfitnesspal.com/welcome/guidelines ) prohibit the creation of any forum posts, groups, or posts in groups that encourage the use of Very Low Calorie diets (including, but not limited to, VLCDs that use the HCG protocol).

MyFitnessPal has always promoted a healthy, sustainable, and gradual path to weight loss. But HCG products are typically promoted in connection with a very low calorie diet, usually one that limits calories to 500 per day. Research has demonstrated that calorie intake at these levels can lead to increased risk of gallstones, hair loss, constipation, an irregular heartbeat, and many other dangerous side-effects.

Moreover, numerous medical studies have shown that the results of HCG-use in combination with a very low calorie diet are indistinguishable from the results of the low calorie diet alone. In light of this research, the FDA has required the labeling and advertising of HCG products to state:

“HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or “normal” distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets.”

Our guidelines prohibit any use of Groups or the Public Forums to support the use of HCG.

    Thank you,
