Hey, I'm new here and was looking for some people who are also doing the weight loss thing to talk to and complain about how tough it is with someone. They (whoever they are) say that people loss more weight and keep it off better if they have some sort of support system and can talk with like-minded people. With that in mind I think it would be nice to find someone to talk to on here ever few days and get to know.

If you want to talk then send me a message or a friend request. If you want to know more about me, read this:

About Me

I graduated college from Penn State as a Nuclear Engineer in 2010. Since then I accepted a job that later fell through. Now I am barely scraping by a living while trying to find work.

Why I Want To Get In Shape

I have never been in really good shape, but when in high school and college I was very active. Since graduating college and becoming isolated and alone I have put on a lot of weight. The depression fed the weight gain that made me more depressed. I guess I just want to end the circle.

Hello and welcome. I have to admit that I'm not a terribly social person, even here, but I keep trying. And it is definitely easier to do things with a community where you can vent or ask questions or just read what other people are accomplishing or struggling with.

Welcome to MFP. I know it will all work out for you once you are determined to change things. I know what it feels like to be in the position where you need to lose weight, want to lose it but being in such a depressed state about it that you cant seem to do a thing that you want to. Thankfully in my case it wasnt a permanent thing and I was able to drag myself out of it and get my *kitten* in gear. I have been back on MFP since April and it has been a real motivation. I am sure it will be the same for you. Best Wishes on your journey and you can add me as a friend also if you like.

It can be tough. The husband mixed up our homemade pancake batter this a.m. Should I eat something else altogether, or go with it? After I ran it through the recipe calculator, found that 1 pancake was app. 103 calories. Topped it with a fried egg, lite syrup, had my wonderful coffee and I'm good to go. Actually, I've rediscovered that I enjoy food more when I eat smaller portions. (Don't feel like a diet martyr either.)

The thing I'm worried about the most is that in a few weeks I'll weigh myself and be the same weight as before. That might be hard to get over.

We sometimes "overthink" things, or get in our own way, because of the "what-ifs" in the future. Then it is somewhat overwhelming, and can lead to self-sabotage. Try not to obsess about the future, take one day, sometimes one hour, at a time. That's the most we can reasonably manage. And I'm trying to "enjoy the process"!!!!

I've found losing weight and sticking to a routine to be very hard. When I first started I thought it would be smooth sailing. I work as a nurse and it can be very demanding so when I'm headed home I very rarely want to cook for myself and stopping to get something quick is the easy way out. Its hard to force myself to cook something healthy- so you're in good company. Good luck to you.

I need to step up my cooking skills in general. I'm not good at straying away from things easy to cook. If they are easy to cook they never seem to be healthy too.

I have a history of depression myself. Losing the weight has help my self confidence in bounds and exercise endorphins have been helping to keep it at bay too.
I hope you are able to work through it and that things start to look up for you soon.
