It seems that everyday I am going over my vitamin limits specifically vitam A and C. Does this happen to anyone else? Is this necessarily a bad thing?

Unless you're taking supplements, it's unlikely that you'll OD on any vitamin. I was over my C after breakfast today. Not sweating it. :)

I don't believe there is an upper level safety limit for vitamin C. I have read some studies about ridiculous amounts (10,000 plus IU) being used in cancer studies and experiments with no ill effects.

    Don't know about A.

Upper limit for Vitamin C is 2000. Toxic symptoms may (or may not) arrive around 3000.

It is unlikely that anyone will eat that much Vitamin C in any single day, much less day after day. You'd pretty much need to take supplements to have trouble with Vitamin C. Personally, I've never heard of anyone ODing on C. I'm sure it's happened, but it's not a common thing.

I tried to find the studies that I had read in the past. They were administering 10,000 plus IU intravenously. They had to also introduce large amounts of saline, but there were no ill effects reported throughout the studies. I'm definitely not advocating it.... just recalling a weird study that stuck in my mind.

C is not a problem. Too much and you'll just get loose stools. Vitamin A can be a problem, unless you take the only suitable form, which is the Natural form of Beta Carotene (d. Salinas - from Algae). The synthetic form, Acetyl palmitate, is unfortunately in most one-a-day vitamins, and should never be taken as it has been proven to cause cancer.

Too much C: Diarrhea. Nausea. That is when you will know to lower it.
Too much A: can be serious depending

Are there risks associated with too much vitamin A?
Excessive, chronic intake of some forms of vitamin A can be toxic. Avoid taking supplemental vitamin A as retinol or retinoic acid, and instead use plant-derived vitamin A precursors such as beta-carotene (in addition to other mixed carotenoids). Also avoid concentrated animal sources such as cod liver oil (although some forms of cod liver oil are vitamin A reduced and are safe - check the label). Warning symptoms of overdose include hair loss, confusion, liver damage and bone loss.

I'm always over on these as well. Yesterday I had almost 900 vit A.

It was all from food sources though so I don't worry about it. The sweet potato chips, kale in my casserole and my carrot sticks to snack on were the main culprits.

No. Your body only takes what it needs and the rest it will just poop out. It can only absorb so much. You'd need a hell of lot in an incredibly short space of time in order to suffer any ill effects, to be honest.

Vitamin C is water soluble. Water soluble vitamins dissolve in water upon entering the body. The body cannot store excess amounts of water soluble vitamins.
