Why does my weight on the scale change with EVERY moment?

I just got new batteries for my scale, and I weighed myself on it. It said I was a certain weight, and I weighed myself again directly after, and got a weight four pounds higher. Weighed again directly after, and got a pound higher, then again and got the same weight. Turned the scale in another direction out of curiosity, got a higher weight, repeated, got a pound higher, repeated a few times and it stayed the same. Turned it another direction and my weight got higher. Why does this happen?

Scales need to be placed on a hard, flat, and level surface. Carpet won't work. Also, if possible, put the scale in a spot where you won't ever have to move it.

If you keep it in the same spot on a suitable surface and you still get widely different weights with new batteries, it's time to buy a new scale.

Thanks, seska . . . I accidentally broke the little rectangular thing that held the battery in place and it keeps falling out so I out it on a plastic bag. Guess thats the issue.

You could also see if your campus has a clinic. They will almost certainly let you weigh yourself on one of the fancy doc-office scales once a week. If not, I never met an ROTC that doesn't keep a highly accurate scale around, or any sports team for that matter.

I do the same, I do what I call the "Where am I lightest?" dance around my bathroom. It has always been the same way, with different scales. I have solid flooring, but even the smallest ridge can unbalance your scales. So hop around until you find the one that makes you feel least terrible. I always hope that the additional hopping around the bathroom will help in loosing that annoying lb that's crept up on me!

Because it's normal. Watch this as a good demonstration about what you're talking about: https://youtube.com/watch?v=cYMNPP2ZR1U

You also have to be as balanced as possible. I usually weight myself 3-4 times, until I see the same number a couple times.
