Appetite...

Is it typical to go from eating normal portions to your body just not wanting food? One day last week, I only had 350-400 with breakfast and lunch, I was cranky and irritable when I got home from work. I didn't want to eat but knew that my doctor said I have to have at least 1000 calories a day no more than 1500 in a day. I am still feeling like I don't want to eat, my stomach is not wanting much of anything, nausated and feels like a rock was swallowed. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I have a day here or there when I am just not hungry. It's usually a one day occurrence, though, not multiple days in a row. My understanding is that long term very low calorie diets can suppress one's appetite. Have you been adhering to your doctor's advice (before this past week) or have you been eating less than what he suggested?

I've been keeping it between 1200-1500 calories per day. I haven't been going under that amount.

And you've continued to eat that amount even in the past week?

Have you been eating differently? Lower or higher carbs or fats or protein? Different people feel better with different ratios and if you're used to eating one way you may feel "off" when you go off course.

I've been eating pretty similar to the 1st week. At least I think so... There was only one day I recall that I was below 1200 calories. I think I was getting more carbs in the first week than now. I'll pay closer attention and study what was different between last week and the week before. That will probably shed some light on what I need to do. I appreciate your input and suggestions

Btw, I'm going to see my doctor tommorrow, so I will do my research then discuss the situation with her as well.

Sometimes if I wait until I'm cranky and irritable from hunger, my stomach doesn't want food, like I'm so hungry that food sounds gross. Maybe try adding a small (100-200 cal) snack between lunch and getting home.

The thing is, I've been doing that and one day last week, Friday I believe, I didn't want anything. I wasn't hungry, which isn't like me. I love to eat and I love food...lol.

I checked, the only thing that has changed on my intakes is that my carbs were reduced last week into this week. Other than that, everything else has been pretty steady....

What did you eat? Maybe it was just really filling. One night I thought ravioli sounded good before bed, and 1 serving fit my goal. I figured I would make the whole package and save some for my husband and for my lunch at work the next day. However, the food tasted so amazing that I ate EVERYTHING. The next day I could only stomach like 700 or so calories. So it all worked out in the end, but I was NOT hungry that day.
