Losing Momentum

I am one of those types of people that has to focus 100 % of their time and energy on their goal. For some reason, I always get about 3 weeks into losing weight and feeling better and I just lose momentum. What are ways that everyone stays focused? I want/need this to be for good. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    If I ever feel like I'm losing motivation/momentum, I remind myself of my goal. I think of my family and how I want to be healthy for them. I think of the day I have children of my own and want to set good examples for them as well as being physically and mentally able to tackle parenthood. I look at old photographs of myself where you can just see in my eyes that I am finding the moment uncomfortable. I remind myself of that horrible feeling where jeans in all sizes feel restricting and unflattering. I remember not being able to fit into clothes that are truly "me" because my weight won't permit.

    There are so many reasons why I personally continue travelling this road despite how hard it can be at times. You'll have your own - keep them firmly in your mind and you will never give this up :)

    Do you think you're trying to make too many changes too quickly or something? That's always tripped me up in the past, so this time I tried making smaller more gradual modifications. Doing too much at once made it feel like a full time job and it felt too consuming.

    I made lunch and breakfast the same ole, same ole for that reason. And I got a friend to join me in my Zumba class. The more routine I made it, the easier it was for me.

    I struggle all the time. I am determined to make small changes each day ti achieve my goal. Good Luck everyone, we can do this.

    I tend to have a 1 track mind also when it comes to hobbies and entertainment, and unfortunately as soon as something comes along I move onto the next thing that has my attention. The key was to make health and fitness one of my priorities (not the only one). Once it bumped into the top 5 of my life, I never disregard it completely and even when I am not 100% committed (life does still get in the way), I do not lose ground, I simply do not see the gains I am used to. Eventually crisis averted, and I get re-focused.

    @PinkPixiexox -great focuses-thank you @cnbbnc -I am not trying to make too many changes, I don't think-I am trying to exercise 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes and cutting my calories @MarcyKirkton -I am trying to make it more routine, I try to remember to make lunch the night before (I do make different things, but that is why I do it the night before, so I plan for it) and the exercise, I do that in the morning @riffraff2112 - top 5 priorities, that's a good idea, not the main one, and yes life does still get in the way

    It's because you are relying on motivation (which is temporary) and not discipline (which is constant) to reach your goals.

    The difference between those who fail and those who succeed is that one does what NEEDS to be done and one does what they WANT.

    It helps me to remember that there's no rush. Sometimes change is swift, and sometimes it takes its stubborn old time. Aim for consistency and a positive outlook. Say things out loud: "I will achieve success." (Why not?) Then just keep at it.

    Having a fitness/exercise goal helps me. First it was get back to jogging more to run a charity 5k, now I do that monthly so I'm working on my time as well as distance so I can do a 10k in the spring. If I didn't have exercise goals to improve then I would get bored.

    ^^^ THIS! i have a set schedule, because I'm the type of person that gets frazzled if my schedule gets out of wack. I have Spin on Mondays, Lift on Wednesday and Friday and do body weight and intervals on Saturday or Sunday. I also tend to buy food in bulk, for breakfast and lunch, makes logging easier and i know what I'm eating on any given day.

    I agree with this. This is my philosophy as well.
