Hello I had this membership for over two years and never took it seriously until a week ago.
I have always been in a yo-yo diet. I have always been the full figured girl from my family who struggled to stay fit. I am Hispanic from the Caribbean and until I was 21 years old I lived an active live walking up and down going out and having fun. Everything changed when I got married and moved to Florida. When I moved to Florida I started working at a call center sitting down for 8 hours a day with a 1 hour lunch that I also spent sitting down or pacing back and forth if I was on the phone chatting with a family member.
In my first year of marriage I gained 40 lbs. It was stressful. I went out to eat a lot as a way to spend my leisure time and when I was home, I also ate because my husband loves cooking and making new recipes. I spent my days waking up going to work, coming home eating and watching TV until it was time to sleep. On my 2nd year of marriage I was still a little depressed and 60lbs overweight. I went to famous clinic for a weight loss to try to get help and loose the weight. Unfortunately I only stayed in the program for a month. I felt alone, I got discouraged because it was too expensive and I only lost 13 Lbs. 10 out of those 13lbs I lost I gained back in the first week I quit the program.
On the 3rd year of marriage my husband joined the military. While he was away I started to watch what I ate, workout 2 times a day at least 5 day a week. In about 4 months I lost 25lbs. When he got back it only took me little as 2 months and a half to gain them all back. 6 months later I got pregnant and while pregnant miraculously I didn't gain much weight. I had my baby at the end of 2011 and by the time my baby was 2 months I lost almost all the pregnancy weight. Sadly I was still overweight because that how I was before I got pregnant. My baby was 6 months when she stopped breastfeeding and when I stopped breastfeeding I gained more weight. I don't blame the weight on breast feeding I also acknowledge that at the call center I worked I ate 2 sneakers bars a day. When I got home from work cooked dinner, eat and watch TV until I fell asleep. Having a baby didn't change much of my daily activities.
When my baby was 10 months old I decided to move up North for a change. I left first and left my husband behind. I moved in with my Mom. My mom too was also struggling with her weight and was starting to have health issues. I decided to start making life changes so we can both lose weight and so that she can get well. In about a month we lost 5 lbs. Then we decided to be vegetarians and it worked, we lost 10lbs. We started working out 4 times a week and we lost 10 lbs. We both decided to move back to FL because we dislike the cold. When I moved back with my husband I gained 6 lbs. in the 1st month. On the 2nd month started to eat meat and I gained 10lbs. I started to work in a doughnut place and I gained 5lbs. 2 months after I started to work at the same call center I worked in when I first moved to FL.
It’s been 22 months since I started at in the call center job and I have been struggling. If I lose 3lb I gain 4 or 5 back. I am 29 years old, next month my daughter is turning 4 years old and I am a size 14. Last week I was 208 lbs. I am starting to have trouble vending, walking and I am always feeling tired. I don't enjoy going out because I don't find clothes that fit me well or make me feel comfortable. My libido is dying and I just feeling hopeless at times. I have a nice family a great job but I don’t feel happy because I don't feel good about myself.
I have made it my goal to seriously start losing weight. I want to have and maintain a healthy lifestyle and show my daughter by example how to live well. I want to be able to enjoy life without feeling miserable. I am not getting any younger and I don't want to develop serious health problems.
I love My Fitnesspal because it allows me to track what I am eating. I love the fact that I can track how much calories I burn while exercising so it keeps me motivated to work out more often. It also gives me a good feeling to know that I am not alone, there are others out there also working hard to accomplish the same goal. Let’s see how this goes. Good luck to all the old and new members I wish you guys much success

Hi there,
It is amazing that you are able to share your story with so much detail! You have been keeping track some how, so MFP should be an ideal fit for you.
It seems that you gain weight whenever you are with your husband. I wonder if it is stress eating. Being married to a military or law enforcement person can be stressful. They usually like a lot of structure and if events out of your control or the people in the household deviate outside of that structure, stress rises.
But this is not about him, it's about you. I think that if you incorporate one step of a healthy lifestyle at a time might be a way to stick to it even under stress. Pick the one event you think you can commit to for a month. For me, it's drinking water, a liquid I despised before MFP. Other things like, walking 3k-5k steps a day -- there are pedometer apps for your smartphone to help keep track. Logging your food everyday, easy. Whatever you choose to commit to, do not make it extreme (like vegetarianism). This is a recipe for disaster because it is one more added stressful event in your life.
You live in Florida, near any beaches? Might not be warm enough to be seaside, but I'm sure your daughter would love seeing the ocean and playing in the sand.
You can do this, just take it slow and don't overwhelm yourself.
