Facebook & MFP

I'm just curious. I know many of us on MFP are also on Facebook, does anyone share their info on Facebook? I saw the "share" button and I thought about it for a split second and then quickly disregarded it. I don't think I want my Facebook friends in my MFP business...does that make sense?

I have mine connected to my facebook but ONLY because the facebook account I have it linked to is specifically for my weight loss friends. I'd love to you have you join us if you're interested. We've tested and re-tested to make sure the settings are private, so you can post your successes, frustrations, and everything in between. Look for me on facebook at Ourlittle Girlblog. Good luck!!

Yep...I'm "out there" public and all on FB....the cool this is others have joined b/c they keep seeing my posts when I exercise or complete my diary....it also keeps me accountable. I did agonize about doing it at first, but glad I did!
And yes....lots of positive responses and encouragment from peeps there too!

I'm with you! I have my FB friends and my MFP friends. I don't really feel the need to publicize on FB everything I do on MFP.

I wanted to do it. But some of the peeps on my FB are so judgemental about it. So i keep it seperate was thinking about just making a diff FB and have my friends from here and in real life that are on this journey with me..

I actually don't link them, though my friend does. I do, however, link endomondo with facebook, and all of my exercise activities go through. I delete them fairly quickly, but it does seem to add a little pressure and accountability to have a bunch of people I know looking at stats that I cannot edit before hand! If I run a slow, sloppy mile, they are gonna know it. That might work for this site as well, I just think it is overload for me to be spamming someones newsfeed with multiple sites.

The only thing that posts on my facebook is my weight loss. My day to day life on MFP is seperate. But yeah, I want everybody I know to SEE when it says I've lost 15 pounds!!!

I link mine, and I know that my activities have inspired other friends on there.

I did have one friend tell me to stop posting all about my fitness because he didn't care to read it. I then reminded him it was my Facebook profile and that if he didn't want to read what I was posting, he could remove me as a friend.

I don't know where people get off telling people what to post on their Facebook profile. It's your own personal profile and you can post whatever you want.

I share MFP with FB. It's a good way to keep me motivated. All the comments and positive feedback from friends and coworkers on FB help me stay on track.

I have mine shared on my facebook. I LOVE all the support that I've gotten from my friends & family. It motivates me to keep going and holds me accountable. It doesn't post any of the bad stuff - like when I go up a pound or whatever - only the good - weightloss, exercise logged. I think it's great! Not to mention, since I've been using it and posting to my FB wall, my mother-in-law (who I love!), her sister, and at least three of my friends have joined MFP as well. I think it's great!

Nope, I live in a small town. People assume to much. If your losing weight some thinks your looking for an affair. I dont post nothing on facebook no more because of some people. Thats why I love MFP because nobody knows me and we all have the same thing in common.

I use facebook for business so I like to keep it separate. That said if any of my facebook or twitter friends wanted to connect here I would be happy to. Just keeping everything compartmentalization.

I thought about sharing with my FB friends about my MFP statuses...but so far I've kept them separate...one day I may share!

I have mine together, though it hasn't been working for me for almost a week now if anyone can tell me as to why I would LOVE to know. But I get great feedback from my friends and a couple have jumped on board too, so I love that :)

I tried a subtle "Join me on MFP!" post on Facebook. It took me a long time to get up the courage to do that. It got a couple likes, but I really wanted some of my friends there to join me here. I think my problem is really that I don't look that overweight in the pictures I post on Facebook, so I hesitate to shout "Hey, I'm fat!" to some people I haven't seen since high school. (Which was a looooooong time ago! :))

I definitely keep them separate. I once had an attorney tell me that facebook is now being used as evidence in court. I don't want my weight loss journey in front of Judge Judy! LOL

I used to share on FB, but it became a little much w/the daily, "Rachel has lost .3 since her last weigh-in," blah, blah, blah. I figure they don't want to know that much. So I disconnected MFP from FB. Now I only record my weight once a week on MFP (and only if I lose - I didn't post anything this week b/c I only lost .1 and I figure no one cares - LOL) and I only post the 10s on FB (lost 90 pounds, lost 100 pounds, etc). Just how I do things. But everyone on both sites is HUGELY supportive!! :flowerforyou:
  • I am quick to tell all my family and friends that I am on a diet to drop weight. Everyone has been supportive. This morning a friend took me to a Farmer's Market to help me shop.

On the other hand, I stopped posting EVERYTHING personal on my Facebook.

But for those people who play Mafia Wars, Farmville and Bejeweled can NEVER complain about Fitness Pal.

I've been linking my MFP, FB and Twitter from day one and have had nothing but positive responses and double the support. it's been so nice. In fact some of my friends have been inspired to do the same...it's all good...also, makes me accountable...
  • I never post about weight loss on Facebook because I think it will look like I'm fishing for compliments/attention. I think it's different on MFP because people know we are looking for *support,* as opposed to attention. If that makes sense. lol

TOTALLY SEPARATE. This is the side of me i dont really get into with just anyone.. its my personal journey & if people ask I'll tell but I don't just wanna put it out there for the world to see.. only strangers that understand.

I link my weigh-in and my workouts. I've had nothing but positive feedback, but my FB is now only family and friends since I found MFP I've stopped all the FB games and deleted all the gamer friends.

Nope I don't share...I'm not sure why...probably cuz peeps want to see pics and I just don't put pics online that much. Also, they want to know where I started and I'm not CRAZY about telling peeps my starting weight...I know I should/am proud of how much I've lost, just don't like sharing how much I started at. LOL Weird.
