Packing Food for Thankgiving

I will be staying at some relatives for Thanksgiving. It's very important for me to stay on track with my food as possible. I am in a weight loss challenge and after months of failing I finally have a good momentum going with my food. So with that said I have a couple questions. Thanksgiving dinner I feel I can handle okay. We might be staying a couple days after Thanksgiving, so it's all those meals I am concerned about.

What are some healthy easily transportable foods I can bring with me. I do not want to take up much space in frig because it's usually packed full from Thanksgiving.

How do you avoid all the "snacking" when it comes to parties and family visits. That's when I do the most damage, not the meals themselves.

Bonus Questions. When you stay on track while everybody else is enjoying themselves. Do you feel guilty and a Debbie Downer? I always feel like I am dragging the festivities down and I don't want to do that.. I just don't want to spiral into bingeing again.

I've never found traditional Thanksgiving food to be inherently unhealthy or to get me off track...lots of lean protein, veg, starch and grains...nothin' wrong with that.

you can enjoy yourself and stay on track...it's called portion control.

I agree.. Thanksgiving dinner will be fine.. It's the meals before and after. Although usually delicious they do not fit my food plan. It's usually bagels and pizza or quick foods to feed a crowd.

I tend to pack cans of tuna, and almonds when I travel. No fridge necessary.

Have you ever had a really bad time at a get-together because someone else wasn't over-eating? I bet the answer's "no". I'm pretty sure you controlling what you eat won't be a downer for anyone else, unless you start preaching about how what you're doing is somehow better than what they're doing. Have a few comments prepared in case someone says something about your not snacking when they are. "Oh, don't worry, I'll snack when I'm ready to" is a good one. They can't argue with it!
