Not any more. I was pre diabetic for almost a decade and diabetic for a decade past that. Been to many classes. With significant weight loss my diabetes is now in remission. The two early lessons that stuck was to eat on a schedule starting with breakfast at the same time every day, not going more than three hours between meals during the day. The second was to eat a balanced set of macros at every meal. That kept my sugars stable.

Did they do an A1C? That is the definitive test rather than fasting glucose. If they didn't I would ask your doctor for one. It is a simple blood test.

Basically, reduce your carbs somewhat. The actual number will depend on you but most diabetic experts say to stay below 180g total carbs daily (some say 150). I reduced my A1C from 7.3 to 5.0 by doing this. Unless you want to or your doctor tells you to, there is no reason to go low carb. Most do well on just moderate carbs.

It also helps to make sure you get a decent amount of both fat and protein in the same meal as you eat carbs. The combination seems to help regulate the blood sugars.
