I tie mine back, but there's something you can buy called dry shampoo that you can use to remove greease between washes if you have time to shower after the gym but not time to wash your hair.

edit: I've not used the above product and the reviews say the product is good, but after one use the bottle clogs up and wont spray, so I'd probably look for a different brand!
  • I pin curl it and wear a hat and my daughter wraps hers. Nothing has been a perfect solution. I feel your frustration!

I sweat in the gym , but i never really bothered about my appearance, i just get on with it hair tied back and do my thing.
I don't think of it as looking nice at the gym, i'm normally read faced and sweat patches anyway.. there are enough beauty queens at my gym already and i go there to get thinner :)

I use a brand called Batiste while at festivals etc and not only is it cheap (only £2 for a canister) but it also had instant fab results; is easy to use and has a great smell....hope this helps! Vx

Hi, when I work out I wrap my hair around my head and tie it in a silk scarf. I also ensure it's moisturised - I use keratase hair products - the best - works well with Afro carribean hair ( the oleo relax range) - particulaly the anti frizz serum in clear orange bottle. It works wonders. Try it you won't be disappointed. Kinda on the expensive side but works!

i wouldnt worry about what you look like. We all look like crap when working out. we are sweating, huffing and puffing, wearing crappy looking clothes. Its what you look like when going out afterwards that counts.
Keep up the great work ;)

I work out about an hour and a half a day and I sweat buckets. I wear a bandana but my biggest issue is that I have really long hair that pretty much acts as a wick. When I get really sweaty, it actually starts running down my hair and dripping onto my calves. How's that for gross? I thought maybe using the bandana AND braiding it would help, but no. It still drips off the braid. So basically I need a good solution too. lol

I rinse it through in the shower to get the sweat out but don't always shampoo - over-shampooing tends to dry out my bleached and colour-treated hair and leave it straw-like.

I also use natural shampoos that don't contain any sodium laureth sulfate or similar ingredients - they're much easier on both my hair and my colour.

Fortunately, my hair also dries quickly, so I don't need to blow-dry it.
  • Pull it. Wrap it. Tie it. And strap it (small headband to prevent flyways ) and I shower up to 3 times a day on muti-workout days. :-o
