Why do I plateau every 10lbs?

Since I got down to 180, I seem to stick every ten lbs and then suddenly drop 7 or 8lbs in a couple of weeks then the other couple drift off then nothing again for a while. Been stuck at 160 now for a couple of weeks.
I think I'm doing the right things- I do calorie cycling so I deliberately have a couple of days per week of higher cals and otherwise stick to 1200. I also exercise like it's going out of fashion.
Does anyone else have this fits and starts weight loss? Any way to make it more constant?

i have been stuck between 159 and 162 for almost 3 weeks... i've just concentrated on eating as clean as possible... drinking lots of water... and changing my workout completly. i weighed in today at 158.2... so i hope i have broke the plateau. there are lots of forums about plateaus... just do a search.

    Bump

I plateau every 9 pounds (why couldn't it be 10?!?) I am anticipating another shortly.

Thanks. I know there's lots out there on plateaus but I'm not so worried about that. More interested in the uneven weight loss progress. As far as the plateau goes I'm comfortable that if I keep on doing the right thing the weight loss will happen. Just don't understand why it's so random- oh and it doesn't seem to tally up with TOM.

I've noticed that one week I will lose a huge amount (4-5 pounds), then the next week I can barely get the scale to move at all.
It's really frustrating when I'm doing all the same things I did the last week, but my body isn't responding the way I want it to.
