I have been advised to eat over 2000 calories and it seems way too many. I can't figure out why?? Anyone else had the same problem?

Why does it seem to be way too many? That's my first question.

Depending on your activity level, eating 2000 calories may be very appropriate.

More information would help. We can't tell you if 2,000 calories is appropriate for you since you haven't provided us with any information as to age, weight, height, activity level, who or what advised the calorie intake, if you're exercising, etc.

Yep - probably too many. Lower to 1600 and see what happens.

If it's higher than what you're allotted on MFP then I would attribute it to food that's lacking proper nutrients.

Who advised you to eat this calorie amount? Are you trying to lose weight? What are your stats?

Try inputting your info into Scooby and see what Scooby says about calorie intake.

I am 34 and 5ft 10". I am a physio at large children's hospital so put down I am lightly active as I am always walking the hospital but with 2 young children fitting exercise in is a challenge!! I just feel like advise on reducing calorie intake for weight loss seems to suggest intake of around 1500 and what the fitness app says is appropriate seems really high?!?! X

So how much do you weigh? @meggiemac81

lightly active would give you BMRx1.4 I think (sedentary is BMRx1.2, active is BMRx1.6) this is without purposeful exercise eg specific workouts

I wouldn't have thought 2000 cals was wrong

I'm 5'8, 158lbs and at sedentary I get 1750 cals .. add some height, reduce age, add some pounds and you could easily have 2000 as a starting point

you could clip on a fitbit zip and get your activity level measured directly (at least a much closer estimate)

I'm 13st so maybe it is right @rabbitjb I'll have to c what the scales say next week as I haven't really been eating that many. Maybe it will be a good result x
