Weird HRM reading?

I use my HRM when I do my indoor workouts. I did Insanity, Sports Interval Training this AM. My resting heart rate is about 62. So after my warm up I looked down and saw my HR was at 73, I really felt good and warmed up and was in that hard time talking through mode. So I proceeded with my workout as normal - but I would look occasionally and see my HR at 202, several times. But the minute I would stop moving, I'd be down to 70-90 again, within that 30 second break.
This is workout I've done several times - my average HR during it - warm up and cool down stretching included it typically about 143 for the 58 minutes. Today it was 121, which so doesn't feel right.
Could it be that my battery on my strap is going bad? I also never "lose" connection when I walk away a little bit, as I put my watch on the table instead of wearing it - but today it would go blank when I got too far way.
Any ideas?

Mine starting doing that constantly and I had changed the battery in both the strap and watch. I ended up having to get a new HRM but mine was over 3 years old so it was time for a new one anyways. I would try changing the battery to see if that works. Sometimes mine would also act up if the strap wasn't in the right position on my chest.0

My strap sometime slips down and I can't get it any tighter, but it's wasn't bad yesterday. I'll try the battery.0
