BF-683W Body Fat / Body Water Monitor made by tanita http://www.tanita.com/en/bf683w-scale/
My Lt. is a nutrionist/health guru, He brought in an instrument that I held in my hands and it measured my body fat. He said there fairly accurate. He informed me of teh scale you see above and highly reccomended.
Does anybody use one of these, I think it is a great idea, but there 80 bucks and I was getting ready to buy the insanity video.

bump! I'd love to know too! I have to pay $10 to get mine measured at the gym, makes more sense to have something I can use at home...0

I'd like to know too, I was looking to drop a good piece of my weekly paycheck on one of these0

I have a Tanita scale and it can vary so much that I find it virutally useless. You do set it for your sex/height. The degree of hydration will make it change by sometimes 5-6% so that in the morning when dehydrated it reads higher. Also there is an 'athlete' setting and a regular. My manual describes athlete as at least 10 hours per week of vigorous activity. I'm likely somewhere in between and when I measure between the two modes it will vary as much as 10-12%. So depending on time of day and which mode I use all I can say is that I"m somewhere between 21-33%..........not too useful. So I pretty much just use it as a scale. It might be OK for trending IF you used the same setting, same time of day, hydration status etc. Don't say this to discourage you but I haven't found it all that helpful.0

I would save your $ and buy one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Accu-Measure-Fitness-3000-Personal-Tester/dp/B000G7YW74
http://www.amazon.com/Acczilla-Personal-Body-Fat-Tester/dp/B004RBFOZO/ref=zg_bs_3777181_10
Very accurate and cheap.. My measurements match those of the ones that I used to have done in the gym.0 -
I have a weight watchers scale that gives fitness level, %water, %bodyfat, etc........it's great, only 40$.......I'm telling myself it isn't accurate though, as it isn't giving me readings I like0

You don't necessarily have to BUY Insanity. <_<0

I had a Tanita scale like that several years ago. It was very tempramental. It sometimes worked, other times it would give an error reading, changed batteries, still not very good. Weight fluctuated wildly minute to minute by as much as 3 pounds. I could also get different weights by standing on it differently. I wouldn't waste your money. I bought a triple balance doctors scale that can be calibrated. Now I know my exact weight down to the ounce.0

I have a scale that measures body fat but it is not a tanita. Like others have said, the body fat readings vary greatly from one measurement to the next. If I were you I would save my money.0
