I have to say I bloody love

Being fit ...beats being skinny, or fat, into the ground

30 years of being a couch potato vs 18 months of building up strength, stamina and fitness levels

There are so many "when I feel awesome" in my life now
  • When I walk down the street I feel lighter, springier.
  • When I see my unused asthma meds languishing at the bottom of the drawer I think f u asthma
  • When I realise that no I need to drop another jean size cos muscles rock
  • When I don't hold my stomach in
  • When I climb into fitted fitness gear, even when I catch people checking me out
  • When I squat my 3rd set of 12 x 70kg
  • When I watch people and recognise good form and feel that pang of jealousy

Feck the weight loss...this being fit and strong lark rocks

(Cannot wait till my frickin tendonitis goes away for good..too many leg days)

Yaknow my trainer likes to remind me that the first thing I said to him was "I don't want to lose weight just be a little fitter" ... 55lbs ago .. I'd given up on losing weight, I just wanted to trust my body again and be able to keep up with the kids

and dear oh dear @125goals ...my face is pretty awesome, but it always has been... thank you for your concern though

I here ya .....despite carrying a few extra pounds still ..I'm relatively fit .....love my inner smugness knowing I can out run anyone in my office , and the inner muscles that are now slowly appearing in my arms and shoulders. Showing my kids that walking to town is normal, when they show me how to stretch !

Still a work in progress the lbs are coming down but my fitness is something I love about me x

@rabbitjb Fantastic post. We need to remind ourselves that fitness is its own reward, especially when we're a work in progress.

i never really went into this for being fit but i see know how important it is.
i cant wait to run for the train like i used to, but this time i wont be heavy breathing and sweating 3 train stops later. i love out running the younger ones in boot camp.
its just so much nicer having a shorter recover time after cardio.
being fit does rock your right.

    Yes!

I came into this wanting to lose weight for my physical health and at least being able to take control of one aspect of my health. Now, it's pretty much all about the fitness, I found my former athlete mojo and now just cannot wait to see how being a healthy weight will make a huge difference to performance.

Well done Rabbit! And thank you for pointing out there's other things to focus on than just the number on the scale.

I want to be like you one day. You are such an amazing inspiration!
I've still got a good 15 - 20 kilos to lose yet but I can feel myself getting stronger. I can squat my body weight from 10kgs ago and I'm almost at 65kg deadlift.

I love it! It's so empowering!! Being fit rocks!!!

I agree! Ok strength isn't my thing, but seeing all the improvements on the rowing machine and treadmill are a huge motivator for me.

Echoing everyone about what an inspiration you are!

And isn't it great when a person who doesn't show her own face makes a comment about how you're not showing yours? I love irony!

Ditto! The comments from guys when I'm on the leg press "I wish I could press that much--and you're half my size!" (and probably twice their age) are awesome. Even better, when other guys try to take the 45 pound discs off the leg press rack without asking (BIGGEST gym pet peeve), having another guy step in and say "She's gonna need those." Is even better!

I used to joke I would only run if being chased, and now I do it by choice--miles at a time! Always trying to improve my one mile and 5K times. Did 7.25 miles last night--felt GREAT!

@rabbitjb, you are the one, whose posts motivated me to start with strength/weight training. I didn't know I would find it so rewarding. I do 3 hours a week and they are the fastest hours. Nothing better than feeling strong. I loved my aerobic type workouts but spurned lifting heavy things for enjoyment, until this year. Thanks @rabbitjb for your continued encouragement.
