Journal EVERYTHING. No matter how small, even if it's a "free" food (fresh veggies have very few calories) and water intake. I really try to flush my system everyday; drinking about 100 ozs of water a day. I do include tea (1/2 green tea & 1/2 reg tea) but I make sure I drink more water than tea. I still haven't found a diet cola that I like so that's not a problem for me. Getting in as many veggies as I should get but still working on that one!

    Good luck on your journey

Hey there, I'm new here too. My tip would be don't be so hard on yourself. Occasionally you may go over you calorie intake or not get enough water but it's not the end all and be all. Start fresh the next day. Hang on to your goal!! You can live a healthier, well balanced life.

Thanks everyone for your tips. I'm really feeling motivated to get my weight under control. I hope I get to know the MFP community better for support, and tips, and especially encouragement. Keep up the great work everyone and I'll definitely put your advice into action. thanx.

    kimcc25 & jree435~~

Welcome! There is SO much good information, links to helpful sites, and helpful friendly support here on MFP. I learned a lot by reading all the old posts, and I've bookmarked the ones I want to integrate into my plan.

Check in daily - there are always new things to do or learn. I have a few staple meals and once I had them all entered into my Personal Foods, it makes it very easy to jounal my foods. It takes about a week to get them entered and figure out how to combine them in different ways to make the numbers work.

Best of luck to you both ! ~ I agree with jree435 ~ cheating is ok on occasion, and really won't affect your weight loss that much. Most important is to eat your allotted calories daily + the extra calories you "earn" by exercise.

Thanks cm for the tip. I was wondering if you can suggest any reliable calorie counter sites. I got different number of calories for the same item.
So, how long has everyone been on mfp? how close are you to goal? I would love to hear everyone's story.

    Hi Kim,

I just joined today, but staying stocked with healthy favorites has really helped me. Having snacks and meal "fillers" that are conducive to your dietary needs might be beneficial. Staying loaded up on bagged salad, salad dressing spritzers, tomatoes (love them marinated in balsamic vinaigrette), 100 calorie snack packs, 1% or light cheese, fresh/dried fruit, soups, frozen stir-fry mix (good way to get veggies) and pickles, has helped me to avoid going over my calories/fat/carbs/protein allowances. This has been particularly true today as I incorporated my snacks. I also try to plans my meals for the week. If I know I am going out to eat, I adjust my meals accordingly. I hope something I have shared is helpful. Best wishes.
