So I've synced my pedometer ap with here this week and I've discovered at work I do am average of 11000 steps a day...today my diary is reading I burnt over 500 cals of "exercise" therefore giving me all these extra cals to eat....but I've not done exercise in my head as it's the same activity level as I've had for years as I've been doing this job for years! It's very off putting (let's be honest... too tempting ) to not eat any of these cals back but this will totally change the deficit I've been on all this time. Votes: should I turn it off??

Yes, from what you say it sounds like you need to turn it off.

I mean it's nice to know I'm more active than than thought but I still got fat on that same level of activity! 15 hour shifts aren't a new thing!

I guess the questions are, how long have you been tracking, are you wanting to lose, gain or maintain? What type of exercise do you normally do?

fwiw I'm still losing very slowly/ near maintaining and run and cycle long distances. For me getting a step counter highlighted that I was more active than I thought I was and gives me about 200-300 extra cals per day. That's not hugely material for me as I'm netting c2100 cals, so 200 either way doesn't make a huge difference.

Tracking what, cals from food or exercise? I've been logging food for 2 years, I only have about 5 pounds to go now, I do mainly strength exercises x

With being so close to your goal I would take turn off the sync and just use the pedometer app by itself if you want to monitor your steps separately. No use fixing what isn't broken for you and like you said the extra calories showing can be tempting.

In that case you've clearly got an appreciation of how much error you may have in your measurement, sounds like it doesn't help you.
