I have a hard time using my treadmill, I'm now able to do 10 min
(only about 3 when i started a week ago) I do this a few times a day.
Hubby says i need at least 30 min or its doing nothing... 10 min really gets my
heart rate up, it has to help some, does it? I still do my other excercises
as well.

From what I've read the new studies show that breaking your exercise up actually burns more calories. They say you continue to burn calories for about an hour after you exercise. So breaking it up gives you multiple hours of continued burn.

I'm certainly not an expert, but I like what the new research says!

    Good Luck!

Every little bit helps and 10mins of being on the treadmill is better than not doing the tread mill at all!

From what I read, you're doing 10 mins several times a day, right? It DEFINITELY counts. And if you're exercising in other ways, too? Bonus! Yes, you are on the right track.

That's just not true. Some exercise is better than none and will burn calories. Keep working on your endurance and celebrate your success. Congrats on starting this journey!

I'm no expert either, but I would certainly think that something is better than nothing at all. I know on my elliptical machine, I'm lucky if I can get to 10 or 15 min without a break. It's hard at first. I think it is definitely best to start slow. Before you know it, you'll be working harder and longer on your treadmill than you ever thought you could.

The best rule of thumb for effective cardio is to have an increased heart rate for a minimum of 20 minutes.

Every little bit helps... but yes, there are different physiological changes that will take place if you can go at least 30 minutes.

To make the most of your 10 minutes - try intervals. Run as hard and as fast as you can for 60 seconds, then walk for 2 minutes, repeat until time is up. More calorie bang for your buck (time)

Just keep going at the 10 minutes, and you'll keep going up and up. You've already gone from 3 minutes to 10 minutes, which is great. The thing to remember is go as long as you can, not just when you feel a little tired push past that and keep going. Pretty soon you'll be on there for an hour and it'll be like nothing!

    This ^.

BUT, I have read that you need at least 20 minutes at or above your target heart rate. That may be for cardiovascular health though, rather than weight loss. Like she said, it's better than nothing! =)

Have you tried running for a few minutes, walking for 1 min, then repeating? That can help you keep that HR up for longer and help you get into those beneficial minutes needed for cardio improvement.

You do 10 minutes a few times a day.... (not once, not a couple I'm guessing a few is 3 or more?)
    Ummm, tell hubby
    10 min x 3times a day = 30 minutes.

You don't have to be perfect you just have to do better than you were doing.
As long as you are always working to improve you'll do okay.

10 minutes is 10 minutes....KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
Do what you can, push yourself some to get better (sounds like you are if you started at 3 minutes). GREAT JOB!
