I am a 46 yo Australian guy and I live in Hong Kong.
My wife is Indonesian and we have two lovely boys together.

During the week I live and work in Shenzhen (China) so I do eat quite alot of Chinese food.
I also eat alot of Indonesian food / Thai food and Japanese food as well.

I have noticed that this site doesn't have alot of Asian foods in the data base. (Especially Indonesian food). I will slowly start to add them as I go.

Anyway - It would be great to have a few friends on this site from the region who can relate a bit more to the foods I eat ...

Is there anybody out there ???

Well, I don't live in Asia, but I do live in Kuwait and can relate to what you're going through. I eat a lot of Lebanese and Korean here and it's really hard for me to log food because it's not there. So, sometimes I find something that sounds like it's close to it and add calories from there. I really don't know of another way to do it.

Like I said, I'm not from your area but you can add me if you'd like! Good luck to you!!!

    Dear Julia,

Thanks for your message ... much appreciated. I will add you as a friend.

I do just the same as you ! I add foods that are similar to those that I am eating.
It is not fantastic though is it - as the nutritional information is incorrect.

I have found that you can create your own foods that reflect the calorie count and nutritional information by using the "Recipe" tab in the FOOD section. I have created a few of the more common food items that I eat in here. Then it is a simple "click" to add them when I eat them. Of course you need to know the recipe !

The silly thing is that once I have created these new foods - there seems to be no way of then sharing this information with other users of MFP. I did try adding the foods to the food data base - but it only seems to accept foods that are bought or from a restaurant.

Anyway - do have a play around with the recipe section...

Lol what's up I'm Chinese and I live in Australia. I can probably relate to the foods you eat, although I've never had the pleasure of actually going to China. It seems you can't share your recipes which isn't too fun but you can always post them on the recipes section in the forums :)

Hi I'm Filipino but live in the U.S. There may be a lot of common items within our cuisines, but I can definitely relate! I cook Filipino food all the time. I'll help you out as I can!

My goodness I know what you mean. I am half Asian, so I grew up eating Asian foods. Now as an adult I work in an Asian resturant and they cook a meal for us each day. That being said I love love LOVE asian cuisine. When Im dieting, I dont even bother eating it. It has so much sodium, oil and fat in it. I love it, so it makes it hard. Sometimes all I want is to eat buffett. Ive fallen off the diet now here for the last few months, but Im back so hopefully I can stay away!
