I am in need of some help. I needs some recipes. All my food I make, I have been counting the individual calories, fats etc then adding them all up. I know there has to be a better way? Also what type of good foods can I make for dinner time, something my whole family would like. Is there any websites to check out? And what about Football sunday's? I am a big time food junkie durning football seasons especially on sundays. I do the whole 9, beer, chips, veggies, dip, pigs in a blanket (my son loves those) me not so much.
I need help. THanks

There are ALOT of good alternatives! On Football Sundays we do turkey hot Dogs, pretzels, veggies, salsa and make tortilla chips by baking them in the oven. I have found we save alot of fat and calories by substituting meats, like turkey or extra lean ground beef. Also using Fat Free substitutes. Eat FRESH!0

I love raw carrots, but it is the dips I cant seem to stay away from either...lol.
And usually on football days we combine lunch and dinner when the games are on, cause we are usually snacking all day.
Thanks for the great idea. You have to tell me more about baking the tortilla chips.0 -
I have found this website to be helpful:

Also soup is something you can make very low calorie. I eat a lot of it.0 -
I have also found soup to be a good low calorie meal. Also, once you figure out the calories for what you made, you can save it here as a meal. Then the next time you make it, it will be easier to add to your food intake by clicking on the saved meal instead of each individual item.0

you don't even have to bake them. You can use the microwave. it sooo easy, you just have to babysit your microwave the first time so you don't go over in time and then once you know your microwave you can make them in no time.
step 1: turn on the tap and rinse water over each side of your tortilla.
step 2: shake off the excess water
step 3: (optional) shake a little salt onto the tortilla
step 4: zap it
step 5: remove and break into pieces
try about 3 min. at first and then add time in 20 sec. increments until you find the right texture
in my microwave it takes about 3:30, in my microwave at work, it takes about 4:15.
too little time: chewy and not at all like chips
too much time: scorched and too hard
figure out the time for your microwave and you are set!0 -
Great thanks so much... I will try it tomorrow for lunch. That is another downfall I have, I love tortilla chips.0

That is the best question yet Shayk
I have been trying to find some good soup recipes with no luck... trying to find low sugar recipes that taste good are like trying to find Atlantis in my pool.
many good recipes out there but it does not seem that borders or Barnes and Noble like to cary a good selection of books that have them.
I was shocked to see how many sugars I eat for just breakfast alone. then surprise to find out what my total fat intake is per day. WOW
good post!0 -
I go to a recipe site www.allrecipes.com all the time and somewhat alter some recipes, using lower fat/calorie/sugar alternatives-whatever I can think of....low/non fat cheeses, low fat beef, fat free refried beans, sugar free chocolate, splenda, etc...there are so many awesome recipes out there that can be altered a bit to make them so much healthier!!
Many of the recipes turn out really great with the healthier ingredients and you cant tell the difference!0
