Does it matter what type of bread I eat if I'm tracking my carbs and calories?

So here's my dilemma. When I started my weight loss in October, I was eating a sandwich everyday for lunch on dark rye or sourdough. I lost 13lbs that month. November, I switched to whole wheat bread, flax seed, whole grain, ect. I lost 9lbs. Well, I really dislike whole wheat bread. I've tried many different types and I find it disgusting. I only switched because whole wheat is supposed to be "healthier" and I noticed it had less carbs then rye and sourdough. I don't eat meat or fish so please don't tell me to give up ALL bread. (Staying away from white bread, white rice, and white pasta is hard enough). So I guess my question is, has anyone lost a lot of weight while still eating bread almost daily while counting calories and carbs? If so, what kind? Besides wheat, flax seed, wraps, whole grains, anything super grainy!

It doesn't matter what kind I'd bread you eat, no kind is better for weight loss. I eat bread almost daily, white bread, pita, tortilla, whole grain....etc. what matters in terms of weight loss is that you have a calorie defict. High carb, low carb is a personal choice, but doesn't do anything for weight loss.0

The only thing that matters to losing weight is calories. Eat the bread you prefer within your allotment.0

Here's my rule:
Don't eat what you don't like.
Whole grains have slightly more fiber than grains that aren't whole. AFAIK, that's their main selling point over other types of bread.
There's also no real reason to stay away from, say, white rice over brown. Brown just has slightly more fiber.
It's your calorie budget and it's up to you which foods you use. I don't waste calories on things that are yucky to me.0 -
I eat plenty of different breads, and really as long as you count calories none is different from a purely weight loss perspective.
There may be other real health effects of whole wheat breads - but for weight loss it doesn't really matter.0 -
I eat a couple of rolls for lunch almost everyday and have lost 60+ kilos I prefer brown rolls but it doesn't seem to make any difference to me. Just go with what works for you it's not a race to lose weight it's a life time thing

Thanks. I hope that's the case because I don't think I can choke down one more egg sandwich on whole wheat. I think I'm going to buy sourdough english muffins tomorrow. As long as I'm staying within my carb count I should be okay. I actually lost more weight before I started tracking EVERY little thing. Ugg0

Why continue tracking every little thing, then? It's really not necessary.
I have lost 60 pounds tracking exactly one thing: calories. Maybe one-and-a-half things, because I do try to get at least close to my protein goals every day. I've never tracked a carb on this diet at all; I vary from 150-300g of carbs per MFP.0 -

I was much happier in October when I was eating food I enjoyed while staying within my daily calorie intake. I was actually thinking to myself this afternoon, " I can't believe I wasted 230 calories on that gross lunch!"0 -

I think it's because I'm super OCD. Before myfitnesspal, I was only counting calories. But once I joined and could see everything I was eating, I became really obsessed with tracking carbs and sugar as well as calories. I just need to take a chill pill (or three) and relax.0 -
Don't eat ANY bread, unless you want to keep your fat!0

I have yoyo'd so many times. Diet binge diet binge get fat lose weight rinse repeat. This time around, now that I understand that I can eat what I love but just need to fit it into my daily calories, has been so much easier than ever before! Eat your bread, what ever bread you want! Just stay within your calories goal. XD
Btw, my buttered white toast today was devine. (Something I would have never ate when losing weight before, cause white bread was "bad")0 -
I was the same way as you, I really hated the whole grain, brown with all those extra chunks of seeds..yuck. Finally found a decent rye bread, that is low cal to boot.
I just focus on calories and had no trouble losing and maintaining.0 -
I actually enjoy whole grain bread, but as long as you're logging it and it fits in your calories, it doesn't make a difference. Sometimes we also assume that sometimes if it's "whole grain" it's healthier. I had been using a whole grain pita that no one in my family liked, and it turned out that the "white" version had fewer carbs and calories than the whole wheat version.0

I have lost 55 lbs so far, eating whatever I like as long as it falls within my calorie limit.
Personally, I like a decent quality whole grain bread. Slightly higher in calories, but tastes great.
However, if rye or sourdough works for you, that's fine.0
