I've been wondering whether it is really advisable to up my calorie intake from my base goal. I know I'll lose weight more quickly if I don't, but also feel like the app is giving me the sense that it's okay, I'll still make my goal of 2 pounds per week if I don't go over the additional calories allotted due to exercise. Any advice?

I'm a little confused? Are you asking should you eat back your exercise calories that you log? Basically, it depends. MFP tends to overestimate burns, so I usually logged about two-thirds of them (deleted the number it automatically generated and did the math in my head). If you're logging things like cleaning your house, don't; basic activity is already accounted for in your activity level.

    Here is a good read:

And if that doesn't answer your question, can you rephrase it?

Thanks that was helpful. In terms of exercise I was referring to the additional work out I'm doing on an almost daily basis, like spin class or Zumba, etc.

You allotted calories go up when you exercise so it's not "going over" at all. You need to fuel your exercise, and 2 lbs/wk is already an aggressive goal.

Standard disclaimer: Many people find that MFP overestimates the calories burned from their exercise, so they only "eat back" half of the calories it reports. Your mileage may vary.
