18lbs in just over 3 weeks is pretty steep, you'd need to be extremely obese to lose that much that fast. We need your stats to offer advice, current height, weight, age, gender, and then goal weight would be ideal. Opening up your diary will also lead to good feedback,

Why? What's the rush? Is this you in your pic?

Ah, yes, wouldn't I be excited to see the scale go down 18lbs by January, too... But I'm afraid <2lbs a week is more likely, and the less you have to lose the slower you're likely to lose it.

In some diets you lose a lot of water weight at startup, as well as a little fat, so maybe you could lose 10.

I think that by setting your goal to be that much so fast you might be setting yourself up for failure.

Ideal Protein is the way to go for such quick results. Their expectation is 1 to 2 pounds a week

In under four weeks? Unless you're currently over 450 pounds, you aren't going to lose that much fat that fast, your body couldn't even do it.

As a rough rule of thumb, you can't lose faster than about 1% total body weight or about 4% of total body fat in a week; your fat cells biologically can't supply fat faster than that.

    This.

If that is you in the picture, you look very underweight.

    Why so fast?

By the first of January or the end?

What is your current height and weight?

Diet type has nothing to do with weight loss. A deficit is absolute to lose weight.

Why do you NEED to lose 18lbs?
    Why the time frame?

If you really need to lose it by January, you should have started in June.

If that's you in your profile picture, I don't think losing 18 lbs by January is a good goal.

If you where extremely obese then it may be a reasonable yet but you'd have to be very over weight . losing weight too fast isn't the most responsible way to go about this. I would reevaluate your goals and set up something more reasonable.

For weight loss, all that's needed is a calorie deficit . ideal protein is a good idea but has nothing to do with fast weight loss results .
