When will it be?

It seems that the work I put in is usually a week behind, that the workout I/eating choices of this very nice first week will end up in results I see next week (not huge, but some loss, more energy etc). Like if you work overtime you don't see it until next week's check.

Anyone else think this way?

It makes sense that the results show up after the effort is made.

Thinking about it that way might help you keep it in perspective, because youre right- we dont get immediate reward. I wont get my paycheck today, even though I will be doing the work today. Weight loss isnt overnight and it doesn't happen in a steady decline. Keep expectations realistic :)

For me, I actually tend to see a little bit of "results" after 3-4 days.

How many times in the past had I had a day where I over-ate, weighed myself the next day, and thought "wow, I can eat like that every day, I didn't gain an ounce!"? Or maybe I'd even lost an ounce or two.

But then 4 days later, there it is, on the scale (because I'm on the scale and it's on me).

And what if 2 of those 4 days I was careful and ate only what I should, and BOOM, weight gain?

It really drove me crazy for a long time, not understanding what was happening. But once I noticed the pattern, I was more able to control my emotions around small fluctuations. And if I eat too much now, I know to expect a gain in a few days.

This information was very helpful. I hadn't considered the time factor. It makes a lot of sense! Thanks very much for the perspective.
